Here is some good news for those anticipating the new Apple iPhone 15. Apple is rumored to have already begun the trial production run for their iPhone 15 series, and this phase is reportedly happening in Foxconn’s facilities in China, Chinese media has reported.
Foxconn, the largest hardware partner of Apple, has kicked off a new product introduction run, which not only showcases the product to the manufacturer but also lets the latter provide Apple with a bill of materials, and prepare the necessary production and testing equipment.
This early run also determines ways to optimize the manufacturing process, and rule out any possible issues that may arise down the line and hamper the steady supply of these iPhone 15 devices later this year.
This run is not something new, however. The American technology company does this during the first quarter of each year to prepare for its new iPhones’ late September market release.
Apple’s iPhone releases are frequently like clockwork. People expect a new iPhone announcement in early September, followed by a market release around 10 days later, in mid- to late September. This 2023, it is expected that this will be applied to the iPhone 15 family, which consists of the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and the rumored iPhone 15 Ultra.
Beyond these, what sets this year’s iPhone 15 series release apart from previous launches is the fact that the device will simultaneously be manufactured in Apple’s facilities in China and India.
In previous years, the time spread between the manufacturing process in these two locations has been between six to nine months. However, Apple striving to expand the production capacities throughout its facilities in India might already be bearing fruit as this year, it will reportedly just take a few weeks to amp up production in this South Asian country.
Furthermore, the largest factory of Apple in India, nearby Hosur in Tamil Nadu, is reportedly being constructed and is rumored to employ a staff of around 60,000 once construction is finished. Yet, it is unlikely to be ready in time for the production of the iPhone 15. The company is expected to improve things this time, compared to the unfortunate events that happened during the production of the previous iPhone 14 devices.
Meanwhile, the rumored features of the iPhone 15 family have also been revealed. Consumers can expect 48MP high-resolution cameras, the Dynamic Island punch-hole cutout, the USB-C substituting Apple’s proprietary Lightning port, a lighter and more durable titanium frame, a 6X periscope camera, and so much more.
