Asia Is Now Nintendo’s Fastest Growing Market

Especially within the previous months, Nintendo has witnessed a great deal of financial success. Provided the events of 2020 and the countless famous games that the gaming giant has launched this year, Nintendo has witnessed a considerable improvement in the sales of their games and products from all over the world. Though, one country, in particular, accounts for the vast majority of the sales of Nintendo within the past year.

The coronavirus pandemic has affected the gaming industry in a predominantly positive way, at least in terms of financial sales. With the majority of the gamers still stranded at home as a result of lockdown and quarantine restrictions leading to a rise of sales in hardware and video games, Nintendo received its fair share of financial gain. Although, there’s nowhere in the world is that more so the case in Asia.

Nintendo’s sales regions are divided into four areas – Europe, the Americas, Japan, and “others”. The other regions account for countries such as New Zealand, Australia, and other Asian regions outside of Japan.

The sales in the other region within the previous year have increased by a whopping 152%, with one title, in particular, having a direct effect on that success and even generated an increase in sales of Nintendo Switch consoles.

Ring Fit Adventure has received a remarkable amount of fame and sales in China. According to the president of the company, Shuntaro Furukawa, Ring Fit Adventure’s sales in China have literally caused the sales of the Nintendo Switch to improve as a result.

Furukawa also revealed that as a direct result of this recently discovered success, the company has started to introduce methods of localizing their titles and hardware for different regions of Asia in addition to China.

In a way, this makes so much sense. In addition to Ring Fit Adventure, a usual game that a lot of players were buying during the quarantine period was Animal Crossing New Horizons. During the start of the pandemic, Animal Crossing New Horizons became one of the fastest-selling Switch games ever launched, and likely saw its fair share of success in Asia as well.

Regardless, it will be intriguing to see what Nintendo does to adapt to this new market the company has slipped into. While the sales increases in Europe, the Americas, and Japan are remarkable in their own right, 152% is quite an overwhelming number to contend with.

So long as Nintendo continues to launch new games with high demand like the recent Super Mario 3D All-Stars, the company should do well for itself.
