The Atelier RPG franchise has actually been around for quite a long time now, far longer than you might have imagined. As a matter of fact, the first game in the series was released back in 1997 for the PlayStation. Then came Atelier Iris in 2005, which was the first game to make its way outside of Japan—the rest of the games that came after followed suit.
Out of all the Atelier games, Ryza was perhaps one of the most popular stories, so much so that it introduced many RPG beginners to the franchise. Essentially, the basic gist of Atelier is that it’s a game that focuses heavily on alchemy. There are different protagonists, and each one somehow finds their way to alchemy.
When Atelier Ryza 2 was announced and released last year, fans were offered a free PS5 upgrade just in case they wanted to continue playing the game on their new generation console (if they had one). However, there was one thing that fans were extremely worried about. Namely, they were hesitant to make the switch because their progress from the PS4 would be lost, and they’d have to start from square one if they choose to play on the PS5.
Fortunately, it appears that the most recent update for Atelier Ryza 2 has finally fixed this issue. Not only that, the developer has included a bunch of bonuses for those who do hop over to the PS5. Ver 1.03, which is the latest patch for the game, was launched on PC, PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch.
For all four platforms, developer and publisher Koei Tecmo not only included bug fixes, but downloadable content as well. But as for the PS4 and PS5 specifically, cross-save support has now been enabled. This means that Atelier Ryza 2 players will be able to easily and seamlessly transfer their saved progress from the PS4 to the PS5. After transferring, they won’t have to worry about having to start from the very beginning and losing countless hours.
Not only that, players will also receive legacy costumes inspired by the first Atelier Ryza game. If you want to start the cross-saving process, you have to interact with Ryza’s desk, which can be found in her apartment. Then, you’ll find the options that allow you to either import or export save data from the PS4 or PS5.

Although, it’s worth mentioning that trophies won’t be included when you cross-save. This was even specifically mentioned in the update’s patch notes found on Koei Tecmo’s official website. Of course, if you want more detailed descriptions of what you’ll find in the update, you can check out the developer’s website.
In the Atelier franchise, fans are tasked to craft all kinds of recipes in order to create items that can come in handy during battle. Defeating enemies is only half the fun, as the series puts a spotlight on this crafting element. For fans who are interested in playing the other games prior to Atelier Ryza 2, they’ll be happy to know that Atelier Mysterious Trilogy DX is set to release in April this year, which already contains the previous titles.
