Bandai Namco Drops New Tales of Arise Trailer

The Tales of franchise has been around for quite a long time now and has continued to stay strong in the industry, especially in Japan. These days, the series has gotten more and more popular in North America, with Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition garnering praise and acclaim in the west.

Even though western fans still sometimes miss out on a few Tales of games, the newest installment entitled Tales of Arise is set to release in the west, much to the fans’ excitement. Recently, Bandai Namco dropped a brand-new trailer for the upcoming game, giving fans a sneak peek into what they can expect from the new action JRPG.

Tales of Arise had a 2020 release window in the past, but this was pushed back because of the COVID-19 pandemic, which affected many studios and video game releases. Thanks to the trailer, though, it’s clear to see that Bandai Namco still continued to work hard on the upcoming title despite the ongoing global crisis. In fact, the developer and publisher promised to the excited fans that more news related to Tales of Arise will be revealed some time in the spring.

As for the trailer, needless to say that it’s beautiful and impressive. It has stylized visuals to it that make the characters and the environment look like they’ve been painted. Other than that, it quickly showcases both the heroes and the villains who players will encounter in this latest entry.

Going into specifics, the trailer features Alphen and Shionne, two of the game’s protagonists. What makes this duo fit well together is the fact that Shionne is inflicted with a curse wherein anyone who touches her will feel extreme pain, while Alphen is a man who somehow lost all his memories and is incapable of feeling pain.

According to what we’ve gleaned from this new trailer, it looks like Alphen and Shionne have some kind of deal that benefit one another. Namely, it seems that Alphen isn’t able to use his special sword without the help of Shionne, while the latter has some other motive in mind and needs Alphen for it.

What makes Tales of Arise different from the previous titles is that it will be the first game in the series to utilize the Unreal Engine, which is one reason why fans are incredibly excited for its release.

Tales of Arise fans don’t receive a lot of new and details from the developer, but with the few details they do have, they have every right to feel excited for what this game can offer. With Bandai Namco teasing fans that more news will be coming soon, fans speculate that this “further news” will involve a release date.

In order for us to know if this theory is correct, we’ll just have to wait until spring for the announcement.
