Best Buy Unintentionally Sells and Ships Cyberpunk 2077 Ahead Of Release Date

Fans will want to be extra cautious regarding Cyberpunk 2077 spoilers next week, as Best Buy unintentionally sold and shipped copies of the game to customers ahead of its release date. Concerns about spoilers first emerged a few weeks ago when photos of the game’s retail copy appeared at warehouses appeared online. Of course, it didn’t take long for someone to smuggle one for themselves and start streaming a few of the new RPG’s opening parts online.

A number of content creators and games press have also received their copies of Cyberpunk 2077 for reviews as well. This generally means details on spoilers are more likely to emerge online. With this in mind, CD Projekt Red posted on Twitter asking streamers and reviewers to abide by the restraint of not posting anything until next week December 9, 12:00 pm CET/3:00 am PST. The wish is that as many fans as possible will be able to engage in a spoiler-free experience once Cyberpunk 2077 finally releases.

Sadly, fans are likely to discover themselves evading and ducking Cyberpunk 2077-related information even more for now. A Twitter post from popular Twitch streamer Cohh Carnage revealed that Best Buy unintentionally sent him a Cyberpunk 2077 Collector’s Edition copy for the PlayStation 4 ahead of its scheduled launch date.

There is no telling how many other fans received early versions of the game from the retailer. Again, those who want to avoid any spoilers about Cyberpunk 2077 should be careful traversing the internet for the next couple of days.

Luckily, the window for possible spoilers to spread before release isn’t as long as that of other games like this year’s The Last of Us Part 2. In addition, everything known about Cyberpunk 2077, implies that it brags about a narrative that fans will absolutely want to experience themselves, totally void of any foreign influence that might spoil it.

Once Cyberpunk 2077 releases next week, there will still be a lot more new content to look forward to. Most essentially, the developers recently pushed back the reveal of the game’s DLC expansion. Such information is now on track to go online on an unknown date after the game’s release.

Additionally, details about its multiplayer mode,  which is regarded more of a standalone, is set to be revealed sometime early next year.
