With all of the action at Dreamhack, you may have forgotten about the Halo Championship Series Pro League Summer Qualifier. The action wrapped up over the weekend and saw four more teams added to the Pro League: Team Allegiance, EnVyUs, Enigma 6 and Renegades.
The Renegade Six - Group A
Group A saw Enigma 6 coming off a great performance at the PAX East Invitational dominate the group. They swept Denial Esports cleanly, moving on to face off against Optic Gaming.
Optic managed to beat the Renegades in a close five-game set. The Green Wall got out to a two-game lead, but Renegades were able to claw their way back. From there, the Renegades just weren't able to hold on - a 10 kill deficit was too high a mountain to climb.
Enigma 6 and Optic are creating quite the narrative for themselves in the NA Halo scene. The two have clashed before, with the boys in green coming out on top last time. Not so this time around. Enigma 6 managed to destroy Optic 4-1 in a very tense match.
Optic was then forced into a runback with Renegades, but this time, RNG had Optic's number. They swept Optic out 4-0 to qualify for the HCS alongside E6.
EnVy Our Allegiance - Group B
Team Allegiance had perhaps the cleanest road paved to victory in the HCS Summer Qualifier. They were able to sweep out Soul Esports Red 3-0, and then moved on to play EnVyUs. That match also went in their favor with a score of 4-1. This left them with a 7-1 record on the weekend, the best of the teams to qualify for the HCS.
EnVyUs were able to best Team Liquid in their opening match, as well as the runback after being sent to Loser's. This could be in large part due to an injury suffered by Liquid's APG on the way to the summer qualifiers:
Though he is fine now, the mild to severe concussion could definitely explain Liquid's performance.
Though Liquid and Optic came into the event as heavy favorites to qualify here, they will now be forced to compete in the Last Chance qualifier, coming up on May 21-22.
