Astralis landed one of the most notable partnerships in Counter-Strike history signing with Audi. But, according to Audi Denmark's marketing manager Christian Weiglin Thorn, the partnership is "a pilot case" and will only run through Dreamhack Masters Las Vegas.
Audi's work with Astralis looks to tap into the pool of young professionals who also watch professional Counter-Strike.
"The agreement should be seen as a pilot case for Audi Denmark with respect to exploring the potential of esports, but basically we see a good match between esports and Audi's strong digital focus," Thorn said to theScore Esport's Daniel Rosen.
"The timing is perfect, since Audi has just launched a new car model, Audi Q2, with the campaign #untaggable that addresses the younger audience. We see it as an exciting opportunity to represent a Danish team, currently ranked number one in the world, and we see it also as a part of our local talent program to support the five Astralis team members."
As stated, the #untaggable campaign aims itself toward a younger audience though it's unclear whether the partnership is hinged upon the campaign's length. The specific goals and requisites for a complete partnership have not been stated by neither party involved, Astralis nor Audi.
