The schedule for BlizzCon's opening week has been released, and as is traditional, it's all about esports.
Getting things started will be the opening rounds of the $1,000,000 Heroes of the Storm Fall Global Championship, where 12 qualified teams will compete in the first of two dual tournament group stages. The second group stage will get underway during opening week, but all eight teams will get to play on the BlizzCon stage before it concludes and the top 4 head into a single elimination bracket.
Simultaneously, the Hearthstone World Championship's group stages will take 4 groups of four players qualified from around the world through a dual tournament format until only eight remain, advancing to the BlizzCon single elimination bracket. Hearthstone's prize pool has also drastically increased from last year, up to $1,000,000.
StarCraft's best will begin to square off on Tuesday October 27th for their shot at the lion's share of $500,000 - seven major tournament winners plus nine from the WCS ladder - will compete in the Global Playoffs during Opening Week. Only eight will advance to BlizzCon from the double elimination group. From there, players will play a single elimination bracket with best of five matches and a best of seven grand final to determine the WCS Global Champion.
The best of Azeroth's arenas will join the fray on Wednesday October 28th for their share of $250,000.
Finally, the Overwatch World Cup, which will see various all-star teams from around the world square off in an exhibition tournament sees their group stages get underway on October 29th.
