We hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that roster that you've seen floating around on New Year's Day was in fact too good to be true.
According to Ryce, the Neogaf user now famous for leaking that Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite would be revealed at PlayStation Experience, it's about as credible as the notion that global warming isn't real - that is not at all.
"That leak is fake. You're welcome. Guys, that list is 100% BS. I've heard things that debunk it," Ryce said on Neogaf.
The leak began as a brand new Twitter/Reddit user named Ten Count Fall took to both Twitter and the r/MvCI subreddit with the following roster and a number of details around it that made it seem to some users, at first glance, to be credible:
MARVEL: Iron Man, Captain America, Captain Marvel, Ms Marvel, Thor, Loki, Hulk, Hawkeye, Black Panther, Black Widow, Ant-Man, Spider-Man, Venom, Daredevil, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Ghost Rider, Punisher, Ultron, Thanos, Star-Lord, Rocket (w/Groot), Doctor Strange, Gwenpool, Squirrel Girl, Fing Fang Foom (Giant Character), Wolverine, Magneto, Storm, and Doctor Doom.
CAPCOM: Ryu, Rashid, Chun-Li, Zangief, Gill, Morrigan, Talbain, Tessa, Mega Man X, Sigma, Roll, Strider, Jin, Captain Commando, Edward Falcon, Asura, Gene, Dante, Leon, Ada, Wesker, Nina (BoF2), Spencer, Simon Blackquill, Phoenix Wright, Rathalos (Giant Character), Masamune Date, Batsu, June, and Frank West.
There's a number of red flags in the list, unfortunately, that even without the confirmation from Ryce point to this being full of it. Not only were giant characters on the list (Fing Fang Foom, really?), characters from long forgotten Capcom titles were also on the list, like Nina from Breath of Fire 2, or Power Stone characters.
Sadly, it doesn't look like we'll be hearing any full roster confirmations for quite some time, but rather will see it trickle out slowly at Capcom's own discretion - unless Ryce gets their hands on a full leak.
Marvel vs Capcom Infinite is currently aiming for a Fall 2017 release.
