EVO is Giving Their Twitch Cheer Money to the Players
NEWS // Street Fighter // By Dustin Steiner // 8mo ago
Twitch's new cheer system that directly benefits players and casters has been a subject of some debate - some think it's great, others think it's going to turn Twitch into a place where people overpander.
Regardless, EVO co-founder Joey 'Mr. Wizard' Cuellar took to the main SRKEVO channel last night to announce that EVO would be donating the 30% of its share for every cheer to the player or caster that received it.
This is a great move by EVO, and an excellent way to make sure the players bringing us the hype will get the full generosity of the community.
What sort of antics do you think we'll see from the players, knowing that there's now a mechanism for them to make big money by playing up their personalities?
Tekken commentator Aris has some ideas (some vulgar language, so be warned - it's pretty funny though.):
Dustin Steiner has seen esports from nearly every angle, from tournament administration to live event coverage. He has worked in the space for over six years for outlets such as the Capcom Pro Tour, eSportsMax, ESFI World, Evil Geniuses and GameZone.
