Hot on the heels of the new batch of Pokemon released today, Niantic Labs also announced that it's expanding its “nearby” feature to more players across the globe. In recent months, the expansion was solely limited to large metropolitan areas in North America.
Essentially the concept boosts your radar's reach, and uses local Pokéstops to act as radar centers. This is useful in identifying Pokemon that appear within the Pokéstop's interaction radius. Users have been looking forward to a new update after the developer pulled the feature due to system crashes.
Niantic also stated that they’ve introduced a few changes to the way Nearby Pokémon feature functions when there’s only a few PokeStops in range.
