Data and statistics have come a long way in a short few years in esports. Coming from hand curated statistics in games like League of Legends to fully automated processes, the data coming out of the games has led to revolutionary sweeps in how games are analyzed. And now, 343 Industries is providing the same opportunity to Halo fans.
“Throughout the development of Halo 5: Guardians, we knew that giving players tools to access game data needed to be a top priority,” 343 said in a press release. “We’re aware of the power of putting these tools into your hands, and teams from around the studio have been collaborating to make this a reality. Today, we’re excited to announce that Halo 5: Guardians will support a public stats API for developers. The API will allow anyone to take player stats from the game, create new websites and apps, and grow communities around these new experiences.”
The system is currently in private beta for select organizations including ESL, MLG, Halo Charts, Halo Tracker and others in advance of Halo 5’s launch later this month.
The Halo API will support life to date stats for each player, a match history, and a complete statistical breakdown of each player's actions in a match.
It will be interesting to see what kind of uses the community puts this data to.
