Mario runs are already amazing, but the Super Mario Galaxy entries are another thing altogether. Just the games alone, as they are, are the definitive modern platformer – physics puzzles and stages that are just a bit mindwarping while not being as inaccessible as, say, Antichamber.
Which means you’re going to want to wake up before noon on Saturday, because not doing so means you miss out on Vallu’s Super Mario Galaxy 2 run.
The Finnish speedrunner is the current world record holder for the game, and has held that title for a solid 10 months. There’s probably nobody more authoritative on how to go fast amid a torrent of coins, mushrooms, stars, and floating planetoids.
But even he hasn’t quite figured out how to get a run down under 3 hours, so you can use this as a good way to relax and wait for the coffee to slowly dribble out.
Vallu’s run will be at 9:19 AM on Saturday, January 14.
