Developers from SNK recently discussed their 2017 release roadmap with 4Gamer. King of Fighters XIV producer Yasuyuki Oda talked about the upcoming patch, set to hit North America next month.
“We’ve just announced The King of Fighters XIV Ver. 1.10,” he says, “but we’re also trying out and making all kind of things.”
As previously reported, the patch introduces updated visuals. SNK also recently introduced a vintage King of Fighters ’98 costume for Athena, though this is just the beginning of a long term agenda. According to Oda, the studio has plans to roll out additional series releases throughout 2017.
Oda revealed that Metal Slug Attack will be getting a major update for mobile devices. Beyond that, no other details were revealed. “We, the staff will work hard so we can have some kind of announcement for 2017,” he says.
Fighting fans like myself are hopeful that their roadmap will introduce a few classic IPs. You may recall previous rumors of Samurai Showdown getting a revival, though I'd be just as delighted to see Fatal Fury and The Last Blade make the cut.
