Terry Crews, famous actor and voice actor, has long been teasing the possibility that he might be cast as the villainous Doomfist in Overwatch. And now we've gotten another hint.
In a Facebook Live video, Crews says that he'll be at the Electronic Gaming Expo, or E3, with a "major surprise." Just after saying so he laughs and says "ya'll know what it is."
Check it out in the video below at around the 8:45 mark.
To lend further credence to the idea that this is indeed Overwatch related, Crews booted up Overwatch just before saying this on his new Old Spice PC Build, of which he was streaming on Facebook Live to show off.
Crews' campaign to become Doomfist started last year when Overwatch fans suggested that he would be perfect for the role, largely off of his Old Spice commercial appearances. Crews has since run with this idea, making appearances at Blizzard's Irvine campus, and generally lending credence to the idea that his role as Doomfist was all but assured. Since then, the release of Overwatch: Uprising has somewhat distracted folks who were clamoring for Doomfist's appearance.
Overwatch's Game Director Jeff Kaplan also hinted that Crews would be "great for many things" at the BAFTA Awards - so this flirtatious relationship between actor and game dev isn't one sided.
But remember - Doomfist was directly mentioned in the opening of Orisa's origin story, so back in the present day, we probably aren't too far off in the timeline from actually getting a look at him.
E3 2017 takes place from Tuesday, June 13 through Thursday, June 15, though some companies will be running their own press conferences scattered in the days leading up to the 13th.
Update: Jeff Kaplan says the Overwatch team "won't be at E3" and won't be announcing anything "at the show" but they could very well announce something concurrently. It'll be interesting to see how this all shakes out.
