Activision has had a tradition of revealing the new Call of Duty game around May of each year for well over a decade. On the other hand, call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War was revealed late in the summer of 2020 and published a few months later. Activision appears to be doing something similar with the Call of Duty 2021 game, which is scheduled to be announced later this month.
Call of Duty: Vanguard, the anticipated 2021 Call of Duty game, is likely to be introduced during the Call of Duty: Warzone battle royale. On August 12, Call of Duty: Warzone, the battle royale game, will enter Season 5 of its Black Ops Cold War crossover. The Call of Duty 2021 revelation may kick off Season 5, but it may also happen later in the season.

Activision’s change in Call of Duty game reveals appears to be motivated by the phenomenal success of Call of Duty: Warzone. Given this, it appears like late-summer game announcements will become the “new normal” for the Call of Duty franchise.
According to reports, Call of Duty 2021 will have even greater Warzone integration than Black Ops Cold War. According to reports, a new Call of Duty: Warzone map based on Vanguard is in the works and will be released later this year or early next year, depending on who’s releasing the information. Rather of being a small-scale map like Rebirth Island, Call of Duty: Warzone’s next map will reportedly be World War 2 themed and equivalent in size to Verdansk.

Again, none of this has been confirmed as of this writing, so fans should be cautious in their expectations. Fans should receive definite facts sooner rather than later if the Call of Duty: Vanguard unveiling happens this month as predicted.
Of course, this assumes that the current disagreement between Activision and its workers hasn’t entirely wrecked the company’s marketing plans for Call of Duty 2021. The state of California is suing Activision Blizzard for gender discrimination, which has sparked outrage among workers and fans alike.
