Anime Boston 2023, the Northeast’s largest anime convention, which ran from April 7th to April 9th, has ended. There were several big highlights, including the recent announcement by Crunchyroll about its new and exciting anime acquisitions.
During Anime Boston and Sakura-Con, the world’s largest anime streaming platform announced various new anime acquisitions, mainly four series coming to Crunchyroll. These include “Bungo Stray Dogs” Season 5, “Sweet Reincarnation,” “My Unique Skill Makes Me OP Even at Level 1,” and “Firefighter Daigo: Rescuer in Orange.”
“Firefighter Daigo: Rescuer in Orange” is the only series in that group that will debut this fall since the others are expected to arrive this summer. Let’s get to know each of these animes a little bit better.
‘Sweet Reincarnation’
“Sweet Reincarnation” is an upcoming anime based on the Japanese light novel series written by Nozomu Koryu and illustrated by Yasuyuki Shuri.
It tells the story of a young, talented pastry chef who dies in a freak ice sculpture-related incident and is given a new chance at life in a fantasy realm.
‘Bungo Stray Dogs’ Season 5
A fifth season of “Bungo Stray Dogs” is coming! This popular series follows the members of the Armed Detective Agency as they try to protect Yokohama from the mafia. The story focuses on the weretiger Atsushi Nakajima who joins others bestowed with supernatural powers to fulfill different missions, such as running a business, solving mysteries, and performing assignments from the agency.
It has been said that “Bungo Stray Dogs” Season 5 will begin with the finale of the manga’s 18th volume and the start of the 19th volume. The plot will reportedly center on the members of the Armed Detective Agency, scattered and alone, disappearing one by one as Kamui, the leader of the Decay of the Angel, seeks to eliminate them once and for all.
‘My Unique Skill Makes Me OP Even at Level 1’
If you are a fan of light and not-to-serious stories, you should watch this one. “My Unique Skill Makes Me OP Even at Level 1” is also an anime based on a Japanese light novel series of the same title. The light novel series is written by Nazuna Miki and illustrated by Subachi.
It tells the story of Ryota Sato, who gets a surprise in his life when he is suddenly transported into another world and nearby clobbered at the hands of Emily Brown, a young and pretty adventurer.
‘Firefighter Daigo: Rescuer in Orange’
“Daigo” is not something new to the ears and eyes of anime fans. It has already captured the hearts of fans in the past, having been the focus of not only the manga series and its 90s anime adaptation but also a movie and live-action TV series in Japan.
“Firefighter Daigo: Rescuer in Orange” is the sequel manga series to that, finally, after a long time. It began publishing in 2020 and is currently ongoing with six volumes.
It tells the story of three young fighters destined to save Japan from a widespread crisis.
There are several announcements from Crunchyroll, and these acquisitions are the latest. Indeed, it will be a fascinating year for anime fans.
