Cyberpunk 2077’s Night City Now Has a Website, Giving Us a Glimpse of Our Possible Future

CD Projekt Red has a series of videos called Night City Wire posted on YouTube, which delves deeper into the game and gives us a more comprehensive look at the many details and facets that Cyberpunk 2077 has to offer.

During their latest stream, which marks their third episode, the developers reveal that they created a fully explorable website dedicated to Night City, which is up and running right now.

The website is pretty similar to your regular real-world website for major cities, however, Night City’s website is more blunt and candid when it comes to the state of affairs in their high-tech city.

This tidbit of worldbuilding for the game is very cool, and we highly appreciate it. If you’re interested in getting Cyberpunk 2077, you should definitely take a deep dive into Night City’s website to learn more and see just how crazy things can be in this metropolis.

One great thing about cyberpunk fiction is that it takes our current reality and tweaks it one way or another, allowing us to view our current, ongoing issues in a different light.

As such, Night City’s website can work as a satire for the greedy capitalists in the western world, but it does also give us an idea about what we can expect once the title gets released in November.

That being said, here’s a quick rundown of the bizarre yet terrifying details of Night City’s official website.

Night City’s History

When you first check out the website, one of the first few things you’ll see is a quick summary of Night City’s history. The city was first established by billionaire industrialist Richard Night, and you will find it situated on the west coast in Central and Northern California.

Unfortunately, Richard Night passed away before he could witness the completion of his city, but his vision for the city continues on. The game takes place in 2077, which appears to be the roughest year for Night City, as violence, corruption, and capitalism are the norm.

Pop-Up Ads Are More Invasive Than Ever

On another note, it appears that advertising gets even worse in 2077. You won’t find any peace scrolling through Night City’s website, as you will constantly be pestered by all kinds of advertisements – from products like Arasaka home security to commercials for attorneys on call, along with different food products.

Capitalism Remains Supreme

In line with the previous point, capitalism still remains supreme in 2077. If you look at the videos and trailers that Cyberpunk 2077 has released so far, you can see that Night City’s citizens are constantly being taken advantage of by businesses.

Exploitation by companies and rampant capitalism are two of the major causes of today’s world’s miseries, and it seems that these are only worsening in the future world of Night City.

As mentioned, the city’s website is full of ads for expensive products, even going so far as to sell everyday, regular items for a high price, such as Real Water™. Not only that, but Night City also faces radiation, pollution, as well as mutation – in fact, it appears to be the norm in 2077.

So there you have it, a quick look at Night City’s website. So far, what we can say is that the future seems not only terrible but terrifying as well. If you haven’t yet, you should definitely check out the city’s official website so you can see for yourself.
