Lost Ark Online is a 3D MMORPG from Korean developer Smilegate. It’s a highly popular online title for its immersive yet action-packed gameplay, while utilizing a quarter-view angle that’s reminiscent to Diablo’s style. In fact, the gaming community often compares Lost Ark Online to Blizzard Entertainment’s classic action-RPG hack and slash dungeon crawler.
The MMO is only available in a few regions right now, namely Korea, Russia, and Japan, but the community is hoping for a global release some time this year. Lost Ark Online follows a plot that’s pretty common in MMORPGs, wherein the game’s world is in some kind of imminent danger and players have the heavy responsibility of saving it.
Specifically, Lost Ark Online’s world is in complete disarray because of Kazeros and his demon army. As you might have guessed, Kazeros is the chief antagonist of Lost Ark, who opened up the Chaos Gate for him and his demon legion to pass through and wreak havoc onto the human world. There used to be heroes in the past who could deal with such a problem, but none exist in this universe anymore.
To make matters worse, there was once an Ark that caused the downfall of the demons in the past, but no one really knows where it is anymore. As the player, you must now traverse the game’s expansive world to find the pieces of the Lost Ark, restore it to its former glory, and defeat Kazeros and his army.
As with any video game, you need to know what its system requirements are first to ensure that your device will be able to play it smoothly and with no visible errors. It’s worth noting that at the moment, Lost Ark Online is only available for the PC. With that in mind, let’s dive right into the game’s basic requirements.
For the Operating System, you need to have at least a Window 7 SP1 or later. What’s more, you need to remember that only 64-bit operating systems can support Lost Ark Online. For the CPU, you need to have an Intel i3, i5, or something higher than that.
An Nvidia GTX 460 or higher is required for the graphics card, while the game requires a minimum of 4GB RAM or more for optimal gameplay. Lastly, make sure that you have DirectX 9.0c or later if you want to play Lost Ark Online properly.
Key Online Features
Just like most—if not all—MMORPG titles out there, Lost Ark Online has a variety of mechanics and features that could be confusing, especially for first-timers. To save you the trouble, we have made a summarized list of the key features you’ll find in Lost Ark Online. We hope that this will help you wrap your head around the online game, even just a little.
Lost Ark Online has an incredibly vast world where you and your friends can explore. Of course, that’s a given for any good MMORPG. You’ll get to experience action-packed boss fights and explore all kinds of in-game areas that’s full of secrets to discover.
Lost Ark Online has a wide roster of classes. Namely, there are 6 distinct classes available, with there being 18 subclasses overall. Similar to Pearl Abyss’ Black Desert Online, each class has signature weapons that allows them to fight in the best possible way. That being said, listed below are the various classes available:
- Warrior: Berserker, Destroyer, Warlord
- Magician: Arcana, Summoner, Bard
- Fighter: Battle Master, Infighter, Force Master
- Gunner: Hawkeye, Devil Hunter, Blaster
- Assassin: Shamanking, Pirate, Shadow
- Specialist: Astrologer, Musician, Alchemist
Lost Ark Online also offers you the chance to act upon your dreams of becoming a seafarer with its sailing gameplay mechanics. With this feature, you’ll be able to discover new islands and places that would have otherwise remained a mystery. One fan even stumbled upon a heart-shaped island overflowing with flowers while sailing the high seas. Who knows what else you’ll find on your journey!
If you’re the type of gamer who enjoys battling it out with other players, then you’ll definitely like Lost Ark Online. The MMORPG has PvE and PvP features where you can show off your skills and display just how much stronger you are than the others. The Colosseum, specifically, offers 1v1 or 3v3 PvP matches. There are different types of battle modes you can choose from, perfect for either team players or for those who prefer to fight solo.
Lost Ark Online has Life Skills that allow you to customize your character in completely fresh ways. With this feature, you’ll be able to decide what kind of path you want to follow in-game. The different Life Skills available are as follows: gathering, mining, fishing, lumbering, hunting, and archeology.
Lost Ark Online has three different types of levels—Combat, Life, and Exploration—with each one having its own level cap. The maximum level available for Combat is 60, while it’s 30 for Life. As for Exploration, it doesn’t have a level cap just yet.
However, your character needs to at least have a level 30 in Exploration before exploring the cinematic dungeons. This recommendation makes sense, though, given the fact that the monsters that dwell inside this dungeon look incredibly strong and mean.
Lost Ark Online Season 2
At the moment, Lost Ark Online is in its second season and it has all kinds of new features and mechanics available. For one thing, there’s the new Legendary avatars, which wasn’t available in the prior season.
Similar to the Heroic avatars that you may or may not already be familiar with, these new Legendary ones add an extra 1% to each Main Stat, along with 5 additional Affinity attributes (Intellect, Bravery, Charm, or Kindness). If we convert this, this additional 1% is more or less equivalent to 0.5% more Attack Power.
Of course, it’s worth mentioning that features in Lost Art Online also depend on your region. As such, a feature found on the Korean servers may not be available on either the Russian or Japanese version—it all depends. It’s best to experiment with the server you play on or plan to play on to get the most out of Lost Ark Online.
