After over a year when the second season of “Demon Slayer” ended, the brand-new third season has finally kicked off. And this pilot episode which premiered on Sunday in Japan, despite some seemingly negative reactions, generally was a success.
The third season of “Demon Slayer” touches on the Swordsmith Village Arc with an hour-long premiere that started with an increasingly ill Kagaya Ubuyashiki ecstatic to discover that for the first time in 100 years, an Upper Rank has been killed.
While some fans are delighted about the third season’s pilot episode, some say it has raised eyebrows, particularly that of a senior contributor in the business magazine Forbes.
Season 3 recap
The first episode of “Demon Slayer” Season 3 starts with Muzan Kibutsuji berating the Upper Rank demons for their incompetence, now that one of them has been killed in the previous season.
It was also the first time fans saw all the remaining Upper Rank demons, namely Upper Rank Two, Doma; Upper Rank Three, Akaza; Upper Rank Four, Hatengu; Upper Rank Five, Gyokko; and Upper Rank One, Kokushibou.
The other part of the pilot episode was a little bit lighthearted, with Tanjiro Kamado waking up from this coma after the big fight after two months and everybody celebrating his return.
This pilot episode has raised eyebrows? Plus, here’s what fans are thinking
Fans online are delighted about how the pilot episode of “Demon Slayer” turned out. They are sharing their thoughts on social media.
Over on Twitter, netizen @SeaBreezeNerd posted, “Wow! The first episode to this season was amazing! And what better way to start it off than with the Upper Moon Meeting. The Infinity Castle was animated beautifully! #Anime #DemonSlayer”
Meanwhile, for another Twitter netizen, @Kevinqp7_, he said the pilot episode did not fail his expectations, even rating it with a perfect 10.
He wrote, “Everything that I could expect from Ufotable, does not fail when talking about the audiovisual section. 10/10 (emojis) #Kimetsu #DemonSlayer #Kimetsunoyaiba”
Twitterati @BielzinhoFull15, on the other hand, said they loved the show.
“Guys, my profile is always related to 7DS AND 4KOTA, but I watched episode 1 of season 3 of Demon Slayer and I loved it. The animation was perfect and the music is really good, I haven’t read the manga, I’m looking forward to watching this arc (emoji)…” they tweeted.
However, for Forbes senior contributor Paul Tassi, the pilot episode of the third season of “Demon Slayer” has raised eyebrows and offered new mysteries.
For instance, Tassi said Upper Rank One Kokushibou is the “great mystery of the season.”
“Upper Rank One, revealed at last, and he appears to be the great mystery of the season. Tanjuro has a dream about him in human form where he’s staying with him in the future once Tanjiro has a kid. Then later, he appears to see him at Swordsmith village talking to the Mist Hashira,” he said in his Forbes article. “Given his outfit and his Sun Breathing earrings, it seems he has a direct link to Tanjiro. Again, without knowing anything, I wonder if he might secretly be Tanjiro’s ‘real’ father or lost older brother or something. They certainly look related with that hair, in addition to the other clothing similarities. Or uh, Tanjiro from the future? I have no idea.”
How about you guys? What do you think about the first episode of “Demon Slayer” Season 3?
