During Xbox’s E3 2021 preview, Halo Infinite provided fans a sneak peek at what to expect from the game’s campaign and multiplayer gameplay. Some fans were concerned, though, because the presentation did not specify a release date for Halo Infinite beyond the Christmas season of 2021.
Halo Infinite was initially planned to be the Xbox Series X/S’s launch title. On the other hand, Halo Infinite was finally pushed out of 2020 and given a new release date of Fall 2021. Throughout the development of Halo Infinite, there have been speculations of another delay. Still, Xbox CEO Phil Spencer has stepped out and promised gamers that they would have Halo Infinite in their hands this Christmas season.
Phil Spencer made the comment during an appearance on the Dropped Frames podcast. The status of Halo Infinite was discussed during the podcast, prompting Spencer to say that the game is nearing completion.
Spencer stated that the development team is dedicated to the presently defined timeframe when asked about the game’s release date. The team has an approximate four-week range in mind for when the game will be ready to release. He claims that Halo Infinite currently lacks an official release date but that the team will work to narrow it down during the summer.
Spencer also stated that the team has decided to keep the release date a secret during the podcast. He claims that they won’t announce a date until they’re certain it’ll be possible and that postponing Halo Infinite again would seem like a loss, even if it’s only a week or two. With Halo Infinite’s rough start and the game’s importance to the Xbox brand, it’s understandable that the developers would want to prevent yet another delay that would alarm the game’s fans.
Regardless, there are plenty of reasons for fans to be enthusiastic about Halo Infinite. Not only will the game’s story serve as a spiritual relaunch of the franchise, but the public’s reception to Halo Infinite’s multiplayer feature has been overwhelmingly positive. Of course, no one will know how Halo Infinite will turn out until it is released later this year. When the game is finally released, it is hoped that it will please the numerous Halo enthusiasts.
