Joel even confided in Tommy, saying the latter helped prevent the Fireflies from killing Ellie Williams, the girl Joel was taking care of, thus thwarting their plans to find a cure. For years, the two go on patrol together. Looking back at the game, these brothers are the ones who save Abby Anderson from the Infected. Though Tommy triumphantly stops them from killing Joel, he gets injured. His wife, Maria, refuses to send a group from Jackson to pursue Anderson and her soldiers, so Tommy heads over to Seattle, where the group is headquartered, to exact revenge himself and save Williams from further trouble. While it’s not yet clear how HBO will present Season 2, it is evident that Tommy will still be part of this brand-new season.
