During the upfront presentation of TV Tokyo for its April television season, its head of programming, Daigo Hirayama, singled out the upcoming “Hell’s Paradise” anime adaptation as a series that will be the next big anime. He said it would be a “hot topic” of the season,” even comparing it to “SPY x FAMILY” and “Pokémon,” which both have aired on TV Tokyo and seen the station on the production committees.

Hirayama also explained why he said so for “Hell’s Paradise,” and he pointed out that this came from the reputation of the original manga and the considerable quality of the anime they have seen on far.

He continued by saying he is hoping people would still think that “TV Tokyo’s anime is on the attack,” with “Hell’s Paradise” joining the lineup that includes “SPY x FAMILY” and “Pokémon.”

The original manga by Yuji Kaku, where the “Hell’s Paradise” anime was based, was launched on the Shueisha’s Jump+ website and app from 2018 to 2021 and collected into 13 manga volumes. Manga Plus and VIZ Media released the series’ English transaction under the name “Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku.”

The “Hell’s Paradise” anime is slated to premiere in Japan this April 1st at 11 p.m. Crunchyroll is also set to stream it in the Americas, Europe, Africa, Australia, and New Zealand, while Netflix will stream the series in the rest of the Asia-Pacific region, aside from Japan and China. However, the staff will conduct an advanced screening on March 19th in Tokyo.

Set in Japan’s Edo period, it follows the ninja Gabimaru and the executioner Yamada Asaemon Sagiri as they search for the elixir of immortality.

Furthermore, Twin Engine, the planning team behind “Hell’s Paradise,” revealed the opening theme song artists for the anime adaption of Kaku’s manga on Sunday. The company also released a second promotional video that previewed the opening theme song.

Singer Ringo Sheena and the musical project Millennium Parade are collaborating on the opening theme song titled “WORK.”

The anime stars Chiaki Kobayashi, Yumiri Hanamori, Ryohei Kimura, Kensho Ono, Rie Takahashi, Tetsu Inada, and Aoi Ichikawa, among many others.

Directing the anime at MAPPA is Kaori Makita, while Twin Engine is responsible for the planning. Taking charge of the series composition is Akira Kindaichi, while Koji Hisaki is designing the characters for animation. Composing the music is Yoshiaki Dewa.
