“Hogwarts Legacy” has been charming and delighting (sometimes even bringing chills to the spines of) players worldwide since the game launched last February. For them, the game offers an opportunity to explore the Wizarding World of Harry Potter as popularized in J. K. Rowling’s phenomenal novel.

You can do several things in the “Hogwarts Legacy” game. You can attend classes just like how the wizard characters in the book do, learn spells, craft your wand, and so much more. You will literally feel like you’re a wizard while playing the game.

But aside from those, what make the game even more exciting are the locations featured in it. There are several fascinating locations in “Hogwarts Legacy,” such as Zonko’s Joke Shop, the Ancient Egyptian Relics, The Clock Tower, and the Deathday Party Room, just to name a few.

One other location that has been intriguing “Hogwarts Legacy” gamers is the Haunted Hogsmeade. However, many players and those who study the game believe there is still more room for improvement for the Haunted Hogsmeade location so it can live up to its name. They think that Azkaban could contribute to the location’s horrors.

‘Hogwarts Legacy’s’ Haunted Hogsmeade Today

“Hogwarts Legacy’s” Haunted Hogsmeade bases it upon Hogsmeade itself (what else?) from the book. Otherwise referred to as Hogsmeade Village, Hogsmeade is the only all-wizarding village in Britain. Founded by Hengist of Woodcroft, this small, picturesque village consists of cottages and shops. Enchanted candles hang in the trees during the holidays to light them up.

Before 1714, Hogwarts’ third-year students and above had been permitted weekend trips to Hogsmeade. Mainly, students frequent the High Street in this village, which has shops and pubs like Zonko’s Joke Shop and Honeydukes. Or, they visit to observe the infamous Shrieking Shack.

Hogsmeade takes on a new form in “Hogwarts Legacy” by being, well, haunted. Once players reach the Haunted Hogsmeade shop in the game, they can partake in a quest that heavily involves a chest that houses a villainous poltergeist named Fastidio.

This location is sinister, dark, and creepy in itself, but some players are hoping it could be more fearsome, and they believe Azkaban could contribute to this.

Azkaban And Haunted Hogsmeade

In the book, Azkaban was a fortress on an island in the middle of the North Sea. It served as a prison for convicted criminals in the wizarding world. This place was also hidden from Muggles (non-wizarding beings) and was “Unplottable.”

Once, creatures called dementors guarded Azkaban. They ensured that prisoners would be punished by draining them of their happiness, only leaving them with their worst memories. Long-term exposure to this can lead to insanity and even death.

Azkaban is present in “Hogwarts Legacy” (of course), but not as a major location, which also saddens the gaming community, just like how they feel about how Azkaban can contribute to the horrors of sites like the Haunted Hogsmeade.

The bleak nature of Azkaban, its deranged inhabitants, and cruel magical guards are opportunities for the game to strengthen its dark themes. But, right now, what gamers can do is just hope that future developments of the game can also improve what they wish would, such as the horrors and darkness of locations like Haunted Hogsmeade.
