John McClane Call of Duty Skin Revealed In Mid-Season Update

Activision has released a new look at Die Hard’s John McClane in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone, ahead of the announcement of the 80s Action Heroes event. Last week, thanks to screenshots of both John McClane and Rambo in Call of Duty, Reddit leaked some information about Activision’s plans.

The publisher announced the Die Hard and Rambo skins would be included in a mid-season update for Season 3 after a series of teases. The material will be available in Black Ops Cold War and Warzone from tomorrow, May 20. At 5:00 p.m. PT tomorrow, Call of Duty: Mobile will still have action movie-themed fun.

The 80s Action Heroes event, in particular, features limited-time packs and game modes, including the Guns Blazing multiplayer mode. Rambo fans should expect access to Rambo as a Legendary Operator, as well as bonus content, including two finishing moves and three Legendary Weapon Blueprints. Operator John McClane, one finisher, and three Legendary Weapon Blueprints will be included in the Die Hard pack.

Activision (via Eurogamer) released a new look at the John McClane concept, debuting tomorrow. The character is shown in the Operators menu screen of Call of Duty. The action hero seems to be the same as he was in the first film in the Die Hard franchise. A peek at Rambo’s in-game concept has also appeared online.

Despite the explosive previews and recent screenshots, there are still a few unanswered questions regarding the upcoming bundles. For e.g., pricing information is currently kept under wraps. Activision is yet to announce whether the material will include voice lines from Bruce Willis and Sylvester Stallone’s respective films.

Regardless of the uncertainties, these upcoming additions should satisfy many a Call of Duty enthusiast, as there is likely to be a lot of overlap between COD players and fans of 1980s action movies. When you remember the overwhelming number of users Warzone has attracted in the last year, this seems much more likely. Warzone had surpassed the 100 million player mark as of late April.
