Seafaring RPG King of Seas Gets New Release Date

The existence of pirate RPG King of Seas isn’t really new information, as the game was already announced in the past, but today is a significant announcement date for the upcoming title. The reason for this is that the game’s developer, 3DClouds, has finally confirmed that its publishing deal with Team17 pushed through.

This is wonderful news for both the developer and for the fans who have been patiently waiting for King of Seas’ release. Not only will it mean that 3DClouds will have the extra resources to refine and enhance the RPG so that it reaches the players’ expectations, but the title will also be translated to other languages, including German, French, Spanish, and Traditional Chinese.

In case you’re not familiar with the upcoming title, King of Seas is best described to be a “non-traditional RPG”—although, this isn’t exactly a new gameplay mechanic. This kind of RPG has already been around for a while now, and many other video games utilize this form as well.

As you may have already guessed from the title, King of Seas is a seafaring action-RPG, which means that you pilot a ship as you explore a procedurally generated world, and perhaps even build settlements. The game already has a story that you can continue as well, and it’s full of quests and interesting characters that you’ll meet along the way.

Of course, it will also utilize familiar RPG elements such as ship upgrades and customization. These gameplay features will also be important when it comes to combat and progressing in the game.

For now, King of Seas will be a completely single-player game. Some gamers prefer multiplayer titles over single-player ones because, understandably, it’s always fun to play with friends. However, from what we know about King of Seas, it will still be a fun title to experience on your own.

For one thing, you can choose between various game difficulties; this offers re-playability, as it will allow you to explore newly procedurally generated worlds more than once. In other words, each new playthrough will be fresh, and that’s always exciting.

That being said, this kind of mechanic seems like a great opportunity for multiplayer features. Imagine: several ships sailing through the same map, as you and your pals explore new areas together. It could be a possibility in the future, but developer 3DClouds hasn’t said anything about this just yet.

While this all sounds like good and exciting news for 3DClouds and its fans, there’s a catch. The fact that King of Seas now has a new publisher means that the upcoming game will have to be pushed back a little bit. Developer 3DClouds initially planned on releasing the pirate RPG in just one week, but now, the game’s launch has been delayed to May of this year.

However, the pros definitely outweigh the cons in this case. While it’s true that a game being delayed is always disappointing, the bright side is that it’s still going to be released this year! Plus, when it does get launch, King of Seas will be more polished than ever, and it will be made available to more people around the globe.
