The hype about Disney and Pixar’s newest movie, “Elemental,” is real. It opened at the domestic box office with $29.5 million – not the best, but kids and families across the globe are loving it.

Now, things are about to get even better as Samsung joins in the hype. Read on for the news.

On Monday, Samsung announced that Pixar, a subsidiary of Walt Disney, has mastered “Elemental” as 4K theatrical High Dynamic Range (HDR) content exclusively available on Samsung Onyx. Those who intend to watch the movie at an Onyx cinema can enjoy a more captivating and vibrant viewing experience as the cinema showcases the film in next-generation picture quality with 4K theatrical HDR.

The Academy Award-winning animation studio has partnered with Samsung to highlight its renowned imagery, extending beyond the abilities of Standard Dynamic Range (SDR) theater-based projectors. Thus, moviegoers can enjoy “Elemental” in 4K HDR on Samsung Onyx screens.

“With Pixar’s new movie, we present 4K HDR content exclusively on cinema LEDs for the first time in the industry,” Hoon Chung, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung, told news outlets. “We will continue to actively expand partnerships in the movie industry based on our leading LED technology innovation that expresses accurate image quality and vivid colors not available anywhere else.”

Touted as the world’s first Cinema LED screen, Samsung Onyx is an LED cinema screen with 4K resolution, HDR image quality, and a peak brightness level of 146fL. In other words, its capabilities are nearly 10 times greater than standard projector technologies.

Premiered worldwide just a few days ago, “Elemental” is the newest animated movie by Walt Disney Pictures and its subsidiary, Pixar Animation Studios, following the romantic comedy-drama genre. It is the 27th feature film produced by Pixar.

Set in a world inhabited by nature’s elements – air, earth, water, and fire – the film tells the story of fire element Ember Lumen and water element Wade Ripple who converge paths and fall in love with each other after a plumbing accident summon the latter at a convenience store owned by Ember’s dad, Bernie.

The movie features the voices of Leah Lewis, Ronnie del Carmen, Mamoudou Athie, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Shila Ommi, and Catherine O’Hara, among many others.

“Elemental” is directed and written by Peter Sohn, and produced by Denise Ream, together with other writers, John Hoberg, Kat Likkel, and Brenda Hsueh. Pete Docter served as the executive producer.

“With Onyx, Samsung has taken a bold leap forward, deploying extraordinary technology at a scale that enables a compelling step-change in cinema image quality,” Dominic Glynn, Pixar’s Senior Scientist, also told the media. “For the first time, audiences will be able to experience our highest brightness, rich, detailed HDR imagery on large, sharp cinema screens that showcase Pixar’s most ambitious work to date.”
