The latest update for “Mario Kart 8 Deluxe” has finally arrived, and there is something making gamers and fans crazy at the moment. It looks like five more characters are joining the racer roster in future DLC waves.
You know that Wave 4 of the Booster Course Pass added eight new tracks to “Mario Kart 8 Deluxe” together with Birdo as a playable character. Amidst this, several Twitteratis are pointing out that five empty slots are currently on the character selection screen, indicating that more drivers will arrive in upcoming DLC drops.
Birdo has made a comeback in all its vibrant colors, but that did not hinder netizens and gamers from speculating about the question marks on the character selection tile. This seems to confirm that at least five new characters will be added to “Mario Kart 8 Deluxe” in the near future.
Alongside Birdo and these mystery characters, the fourth wave introduced eight new tracks: Amsterdam Drift, Donkey Kong Summit, Singapore Speedway, Bangkok Rush, Mario Circuit, Riverside Park, Waluigi Stadium, and a brand-new course, Yoshi’s Island.
In March 2022, the Booster Course DLC launched with Wave 1, bringing Toad Circuit, Paris Promenade, Coconut Mall, Choco Mountain, Tokyo Blur, Sky Garden, Shroom Ridge, and Ninja Hideaway to the game.
Wave 2, launched in August, saw Kalimari Desert, Sky-High Sundae, Mushroom Gorge, Mario Circuit 3, Waluigi Pinball, Sydney Sprint, New York Minute, and Snow Land expanding the course pool.
Launched in December was Wave 3, which added Maple Treeway, Rock Rock Mountain, Boo Lake, London Loop, Berlin Byways, Merry Mountain, Peach Gardens, and another Rainbow Road where players can race through.
In 2023, there are two additional waves of DLC to be released, with each bringing eight new courses and perhaps more new characters from across the Mario Kart series Kotaku also speculated since “Mario Kart 8” has previously also introduced other characters from other Nintendo franchises such as “Zelda” and “Splatoon.”
When all six waves are released, “Mario Kart 8” will have more than half of the Mario Kart tracks ever unveiled.
“Mario Kart 8 Deluxe” is a racing game in the “Mario Kart” series for the Nintendo Switch, first unveiled on April 28th, 2017. The game is the first Mario game overall to be released for Nintendo Switch. It is an improved “Mario Kart 8” port for the Wii U.
