Matthew Lilley has been nominated by the SushiSwap community to fill the empty CTO post, which must be validated by a governance vote.

Should DAOs have c-suits?

Lilley appears to have the full backing of the SushiSwap community, which has praised his professionalism. Only a few critical views can be found in the forum post debating the proposal, largely focusing around the topic of whether having a c-suit fits with the idea of a DAO. Furthermore, there are still unanswered questions regarding SushiSwap’s recent leadership shift.

If confirmed, Lilley will take over as interim CTO of the decentralized exchange from Joseph Delong. Delong left SushiSwap after being refused a pay raise and increased autonomy. Previously, multiple significant claims were leveled against Delong, labeling him “hostile to the community,” prompting the community to call for Delong’s resignation.

New CEO on the way?

The snapshot vote seeks to appoint Matthew Lilley as Chief Technology Officer for a six-month term. At the time of writing, 22 SUSHI holders have voted unanimously in favor.

Another proposal now being debated seeks to appoint a CEO for a 6-month term. Most community members appear to support 0xMaki, who formerly led the decentralized exchange until being deposed by Delong and several other devs. Maki has not yet commented on this, but she has stated her support for Lilley on the SushiSwap forum.
