Horror Punk Game ‘Morbid: The Seven Acolytes’ Launches in December

Horror punk fans, it’s time to mark your calendars because Morbid: The Seven Acolytes will be heading your way before the year ends. Developed by Still Running and published by Merge Games, the action-RPG takes you on a gruesome adventure.

In Morbid: The Seven Acolytes, you will be able to battle savage monsters and bosses, as well as explore the game’s diverse world of Mornia where you are the only survivor of your people.

The game’s story and lore are deep and immersive. You, as the last surviving Striver of Dibrom, are tasked to eliminate the Seven Acolytes. More specifically, you have to defeat the Gahars that have made hosts out of the Seven Acolytes.

If you succeed in this bloody quest, you will be able to free the land from their reign. If you fail, on the other hand, then it means that the malicious gods will continue to wreak havoc and madness through the Acolytes.

One interesting aspect of Morbid: The Seven Acolytes is the fact that the developer has blended together Lovecraftian horrors and Cronenbergian gore, which offers a unique horror punk experience for all players.

As you progress through the game and defeat a variety of bloodthirsty monsters, you will be able to build and improve your character as you see fit. You will be able to utilize looting, upgrades, runes, and more in order to enhance your gear.

Alongside your epic fights against both mini and large-scale bosses is fully-orchestrated music that will perfectly match the situation you’re in. That being said, mastering the art of combat is essential if you want even a small chance of succeeding against your enemies.

As previously mentioned, the Seven Acolytes are simply vessels for the Gahars, which are dark gods that have attached their minds to the bodies of these Acolytes. In other words, the only way to rid the world of them would be through annihilating the hosts.

You will be able to meet a variety of NPCs on your journey as well, which is a familiar and common thing to have in roleplaying games. Among other things, there are also all kinds of weapons to choose from, or more specifically, Morbid: The Seven Acolytes has 25 melee weapons.

The range is pretty decent though – from maces, spears, and swords, to axes and two-handers. Although, there are a couple of guns thrown into the mix as well, such as pistols, rifles, and shotguns.

That being said, you can’t just run around and do whatever you please in this game. You also have to keep tabs on your health, stamina, and sanity meters as you travel through the different parts of the map and encounter all kinds of horrors.

Morbid: The Seven Acolytes will contain blood and gore though, so it might not be a suitable game for all ages. However, those who are fans of other similar games such as Bloodborne and the Dark Souls series will most likely enjoy this game as well.

In any case, the horror punk action RPG is set to release this coming December 2 for the PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
