Addons are an integral part of the World of Warcraft experience whether you’re playing Shadowlands or The Burning Crusade Classic. While some people might say that the game is best enjoyed without any addons, the truth is that you absolutely need these sorts of plugins if you want to remain competitive. It’s no secret that the vast majority of WoW players are using addons, so you wouldn’t be doing yourself any favors by avoiding them. Quite the contrary.

But what are some of the most important addons to have while playing World of Warcraft? Well, there are too many to count in the case of Shadowlands so in this article, we’re going to focus exclusively on TBC Classic addons. A lot of the available addons are specialized and only worth picking up in certain situations, but there are also some that you’re going to want regardless of your playstyle or class. These general all-purpose addons are the ones we’re going to cover here. Let’s begin with the most obvious one.

Questie

Questie is hands down one of the most important addons you’ll need when playing Burning Crusade Classic. Just as its name suggests, this addon acts like a quest helper that shows important objectives and other useful information on your map. The addon doesn’t just help you complete current quests but also shows you where to find quests you haven’t discovered yet and even tells you their level requirements.

That sort of information is absolutely essential if you want to level up at a reasonable pace. Otherwise, all you have to go on is the quest text found in your journal, which is often vague and/or not very helpful. Purists might say that not having access to the information provided by addons like Questie makes the quests more challenging and enjoyable. However, the truth is that it only makes them more annoying. The developers themselves realized this eventually, which is why later expansions have a built-in quest helper that works pretty much exactly like Questie.

Vendor Price

If you’re the sort of player who prefers to buy WoW EU TBC gold instead of farming it, you can probably skip this addon. If not, you’ll definitely want to grab it because Vendor Price is one of the most important addons for making gold. Vendor Price is quite a simple add-on that just shows you the price of any item you have in your inventory. This is a great feature to have because it helps you figure out if you should hold on to certain items to sell later at the auction house or get rid of them asap at the nearest vendor. Vendor Price is particularly useful while you’re leveling up and your bag space is limited but can also come in handy when at max level.

Scrap (Junk Seller)

Yet another quality of life addon that’s basically impossible to play without after you have tried it once. Scrap automatically sells all your junk items whenever you visit a vendor, a feature that should have been available in the game by default if you ask us. In addition, Scrap comes with the extra benefit of automatically repairing your equipment when you visit a blacksmith or some other vendor that offers repair services. Scrap (Junk Seller) is fully compatible with other important add-ons related to inventory management but does require you to download certain compatibility plugins in some cases.

Deadly Boss Mods

You can’t leave out DBM when talking about the most important addons for WoW TBC Classic, or any expansion for that matter. The addon is quite complex if you want to dig deep and try to take advantage of all its features, however, doing so is optional. The addon’s most important feature doesn’t require any configuration and becomes available as soon as you install it. DBM guides you through all the most important PVE encounters in real-time, letting you jump into dungeons and raids without necessarily knowing beforehand what to expect.

While it can be fun to learn boss encounters through trial and error, you have to remember that most people who play TBC Classic on NA and EU servers are veteran WoW players. Meaning they already know what to expect and will give you a hard time if you’re clueless. Besides, you still have to perform well during encounters and have good reaction times so it’s not like the addon does everything for you. DBM simply makes your life easier by alerting you whenever an encounter is switching to a different phase.

Bartender

World of Warcraft underwent many changes over the years but we have never seen Blizzard implement a complete overhaul of the user interface. The UI in Shadowlands looks similar to what we had in the vanilla version of the game and the same goes for The Burning Crusade Classic. But just because Blizzard didn’t update the UI that doesn’t mean we can’t do it ourselves. There are a number of important add-ons that allow you to do this but the easiest one to configure would have to be Bartender.

What Bartender does is allow you to take pretty much any UI element and move it, customize it or completely get rid of it. This includes action bars, stance bars, reputation bar, pet bar, bag bar, and more. For the most part, the addon focuses on bars but also has a certain degree of support for frames. Completely redesigning your UI can be a tedious and somewhat intimidating process if you’ve never done it before, but it’s the sort of thing you only need to do once and it will play a big role in your enjoyment of the game. World of Warcraft is almost two decades old at this point but with Bartender, you can make it look like a modern game.

Details! Damage Meter

Getting a detailed analysis of your combat performance by simply using built-in tools is pretty much impossible in WoW TBC Classic. There just isn’t enough to work with. And, as we all know, the communities on both WoW EU Classic and NA servers put a lot of emphasis on topping the DPS meters, especially during raids. In fact, a lot of raid groups won’t even let you join unless you can prove that you’re capable of dishing out a lot of damage.

Needless to say, a damage meter is one of the most important addons you’ll need in Burning Crusade Classic and there is no better one than Details! The addon is very straightforward and requires little configuration if all you want to do is monitor your DPS or healing, but does come with many customization options should you want to take things to the next level. The best part about this addon is that it lets you monitor and analyze the performance of everyone in your party, even those who don’t have Details installed themselves. That makes the addon essentially mandatory for raid leaders, but everyone else should definitely have it too.

GatherMate2

Gold making is as important in TBC Classic as ever and one of the best ways to farm gold is via gathering professions. The only problem is that finding valuable mineral nodes or herb clusters can be a very time-consuming process if you don’t know their spawn points. Normally, it would take you a while to memorize this stuff but with GatherMate2 you don’t have to bother because this addon shows their location on your map even if you’ve never discovered them before. GatherMate2 pulls data straight from Wowhead so you can be sure that the information is always up to date.

AtlasLoot Classic

Tired of fighting bosses without knowing exactly what loot they drop and whether or not you need it? Sure, you can easily look up loot tables on the internet but it’s a lot better to have that sort of information available in-game and that’s exactly what this addon does. Atlas LootClassic shows you possible loot drops for each and every single boss in the game. Not only will you have access to the loot tables in-game whenever you want but the addon also displays everything in a very neat and well-put-together UI that’s a pleasure to navigate.

Among other things, AtlasLoot Classic can also be used to view all the best sets for each class along with BiS items during each phase of the expansion. In addition, you can favorite items for easy access and get information about crafting recipes, factions, world events, and so much more. AtlasLoot Classic is essential if you care about efficiency and planning when playing World of Warcraft TBC. Also worth noting is that you can grab a plugin for the add-on that allows it to show detailed maps of dungeons and raids. This is another key feature you don’t want to miss out on, so make sure to grab the Maps plugin as well.
