Overwatch’s annual Halloween event is still making the rounds this year, in fact, the 2020 Halloween event is currently live and ongoing for all players to experience. In this event, all the Halloween cosmetics from previous Halloween events, along with the Junkenstein’s Revenge arcade mode will be made available to Overwatch again.
The event will take place from October 13 to November 3, which means that players are given a sufficient amount of time to snag the cosmetics they’ve been eyeing now instead of having to wait until next year’s event. Plus, all the platforms that Overwatch is in will be able to experience the event.
That being said, those who want something new this year will be glad to know that Junkenstein’s Revenge now has new challenge modes. Two challenge modes will be added every week, in fact, two are currently available now.
Of course, a Halloween event means costumes and in this case, new skins. Overwatch’s 2020 Halloween event will feature new legendary skins for many characters, including the following:
- D.Va – Shin-Ryeong
- Genji – Karasu-Tengu
- Hanzo – Dai-Tengu
- Sigma – Flying Dutchman
- Winston – Werewolf
In addition to that, players can participate in a weekly mini-challenge event, which will reward players with exclusive cosmetics if they’re able to successfully complete them. For the first week, we have Sombra and her Fantasma epic skin.
The second week features Brigitte with her Stone epic skin, while the third week will conclude with Echo and her Ragdoll epic skin. Aside from the skins though, players will also be able to obtain an associated spray and player icon after they complete the challenge.
Among other cosmetics available, you will find new sprays, a new Reinhardt emote, new highlight intros, as well as new voice lines. As always, lootboxes will also be available during this year’s Halloween event, which will contain cosmetics from previous years’ Halloween events.
However, if you don’t want the mystery of lootboxes, you can also purchase it directly if you already have your eye on a specific cosmetic.
As mentioned, Junkenstein’s Revenge will have six planned challenge modes and currently, only the first two are ongoing. Here are the challenges on the list:
- Vengeful Ghost
- Frenzied Stampede
- Volatile Zomnics
- Three They Were
- Mystery Swap
- Shocking Surprise
Compared to the normal games found in Junkenstein’s Revenge, we assume that these new challenges will be significantly harder. However, this is a good thing because it provides players with the chance to gather and party with friends, allowing them to defeat Junkenstein and the zomnics easily and efficiently.
If you complete these challenges, you will be able to obtain one-of-a-kind sprays that you won’t be able to get anywhere else, not even by purchasing with credits or in lootboxes.
That being said, those who don’t want to go through challenges that are too difficult can still try out the original Junkenstein’s Revenge and Junkenstein’s Revenge Endless, which are both playable from the arcade menu.
You don’t have to worry about missing out on anything, as these normal challenges will still reward you with special sprays upon completion.
