Phasmophobia Update Makes Adjustments to Banshees

Phasmophobia, an indie survival horror game from developer and publisher Kinetic Games, has several different ghost types—12 to be exact. One of the ghost types that players can encounter in-game is the Banshee, which has been a creature with a unique behavioral pattern from the get-go.

Unlike the other ghost types, which randomly select targets once they’re in their hunting mode, the Banshee locks onto a specific target and will follow them around persistently until that player is killed. It’s definitely not a fun experience for the chosen player, as even hiding or getting out of the Banshee’s line of site would be pointless. The spirit will always find its intended victim, no matter what.

Of course, while the unlucky player will go through a distressing time trying to stay alive, this provides an ample opportunity for the rest of the players to complete the other in-game objectives. As a matter of fact, the Banshee locking onto just one target can even be exploited by Phasmophobia players.

If the target leaves the building that the Banshee is haunting, the spirit would no longer be a cause for concern because it wouldn’t be able to leave the premises. Therefore, it would be rendered harmless, and the other players can continue exploring the house. Well, until now, that is.

Kinetic Games recently released the patch notes for Phasmophobia’s most recent update, where it reveals that there have been two changes made to the game. One of these two changes deals with the Banshee, stating that the spirit “will now hunt like other ghosts.”

In other words, once the target player leaves the building and the Banshee can no longer get to them, it will start hunting other players who are inside instead. As such, the rest of the team can no longer stay complacent and will have to keep their guards up.

As for the other change, it deals with Phasmophobia’s Photo Reward challenge. Sometimes, players get a daily challenge wherein they had to earn $50 in photo rewards by using the game’s camera. Most of the time, players had great difficulty in successfully completing this challenge, especially since each accepted photo only costs $5 plus the difficulty multiplier.

This time around, however, Kinetic Games has made things easier for the players. The Photo Reward challenge will now put into account the overall photo rewards collected across several games.

Among other things, the new Phasmophobia update also implements a couple of bug fixes. One of the fixes gets rid of the bug where players would find fingerprints spawning on the outside of windows. Not only that, Kinetic Games has decided to remove a wall that was situated right in the middle of a hallway in the school.

As for the change in the Banshee’s behavior, some fans weren’t that pleased. They liked that the spirit behaved differently from the rest of the ghosts. Kinetic Games deciding to change it simply meant that it was no longer unique.
