Since Pokemon Unite’s release earlier this year, the development team has been steadily adding new content to the game in order to keep fans interested in the free-to-play MOBA. Several new playable Pokemon have recently been added, including the popular Fairy-type Eevee-lution, Sylveon, and the Water-type Blastoise. TiMi Studios and The Pokemon Company, on the other hand, have more content on the way, and this time it’s a full-fledged themed event.
Themed events are fairly common in live service games such as Overwatch, Apex Legends, and Destiny 2. All of the games on this list are currently hosting their own Halloween events, and now Pokemon Unite can be added to the mix.
The Halloween Festival in Pokemon Unite is the first event for the free-to-play competitive Pokemon game, and it will take place from October 20th to November 7th. Not only will there be new costumes for the playable Pokemon, but there will also be new outfit options for players to match the spooky event.
Expect to see a pointed witch hat, a pumpkin backpack filled with candy, and a Pikachu Halloween mask. Players can also expect new Pokemon Unite trainer card customization options, such as new emotes, stickers, and background images.
The Halloween Festival reveal trailer also confirmed that a new Pokemon, Greedent, will be added to the game. This greedy Normal-type Pokemon is relatively new to the Poke-universe, having first appeared in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield in 2019. Although it isn’t the first Pokemon that comes to mind when thinking of Halloween, having a new Pokemon added to the roster should be exciting nonetheless.
Here’s what’s been confirmed so far in terms of Holowear added through the Halloween Festival. Some other Pokemon may also receive new outfits, but players will have to wait until the event begins to see what is available for purchase.
The Pokemon Unite Halloween Festival announcement could be the beginning of a series of themed events for the new Pokemon MOBA. After reaching millions of players in just a few months, it makes sense for the game to keep the player base as up-to-date as possible with free content and events. Players may also see a Christmas-themed event or a New Year’s Eve celebration later this year. Fans will have to wait and see what happens.
