SNK just announced when fans can try the new fighter for Samurai Shodown, Cham Cham, as part of the game’s Season 3 Fighter Pass via a new gameplay trailer.
The trailer features the new character’s gameplay, who is coming back from the classic Samurai Shodown 2for the reboot. Her movement consists of various attacks using her giant boomerang, as well as her clawed hands and feet. Cham Cham is set to arrive next month, March 16, which is the same day Samurai Shodown launches on the Xbox Series X|S.
Cham Cham is the first character to come out of the Season 3 Fighter Pass, with the other one revealed thus far being guest character Hibiki Takane, who originates from another SNK fighting game with the title of The Last Blade 2. Hibiki doesn’t still have a launch date but possibly will launch in the next couple of months. The other two characters in the pass have not yet been revealed.
Crossovers in SNK games are not rare. Samurai Shodown not only features characters from SNK’s other hit fighting games such as Hibiki from The Last Blade 2 but from titles from other publishers as well including GongSun Li from famous Chinese MOBA Honor of Kings and The Warden from Ubisoft’s For Honor.
The crossovers go the other way too, as most noticeable is SNK’s Terry Bogard from King of Fighters making his way to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s roster. Game director Masahiro Sakurai mentioned at the time that he has always been a fan of the fighting games of SNK, and so wanted to pay tribute to the Japanese fighting game masters with the inclusion of Terry as a DLC expansion character for Smash.
