The long-awaited Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic reboot has been officially unveiled, and fans have been waiting for this day. The game has been speculated for a long time, with Jason Schreier initially confirming its existence, but there has been no formal confirmation of its existence until now. The trailer, on the other hand, didn’t offer much about what to expect.
The confirmation, which began after PlayStation’s Jim Ryan delivered a short statement, was a major announcement to help kick off the presentation. While the teaser clip was just around a minute long, it shows Darth Revan’s silhouette as a figure named Bastilla soliloquizes about the Sith.
Revan then fires his lightsaber, lighting him and revealing his mask in the trailer. The remake’s logo is flashed in the teaser, followed by the phrase “a legend recreated for PS5”.
Many people believe Knights of the Old Republic to be one of the finest Star Wars games ever produced. BioWare developed it in the early 2000s. It had a framework similar to Mass Effect – which is also influenced – that allowed players to travel the galaxy and make decisions that changed the game’s outcome.
It’s now become something of a classic, a point of reference for fans when they inquire about a Star Wars role-playing game. Star Wars: The Old Republic, an MMO, attempted to follow in its footsteps, but it never achieved the same degree of success.
Unfortunately, there aren’t many information in the teaser clip. Because Revan is plainly CGI, it’s unclear how well the game would look with updated visuals, and the teaser didn’t give a release date, implying that the game is still a long way off. At the very least, fans may rejoice that the game has finally been announced.
It’s worth noting that this isn’t the only high-profile EA game that’s getting a remake. Dead Space is also receiving a remake, which, assuming the two projects are similar in scale, might hint at how Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake will look. It’s still too early to guess, and there’s far too little information to be certain, but supporters have finally gotten their wish.
