It appears 2020 is a year full of high profile streamers being banned on Twitch, be it temporary or permanent. While some Twitch streamers have been banned for logical and sometimes concerning reasons, a lot are being banned for controversial reasons or even no significant reason at all. One recent popular streamer to be affected by this is m0xyy.
At the time the ban hammer was implemented, the streamer had more than 500,000 followers, making him a decently famous figure in the streaming community. He initially started streaming on Twitch in 2015 but today, his channel is now deprived of all that history.
Like many other recent incidents on Twitch, m0xyy has been banned because of DMCA strikes affecting thousands of users across the streaming platform. A few days before the ban, the streamer posted his issue on his Twitter account about the probability of receiving a permanent ban in the future. It appears that the ban would come into fruition sooner than anticipated.
Holy shit, I've been DMCA'd twice in one week and I believe next one will be a permanent ban. I'm going to be deleting all my clips and vods hopefully all will be done in next couple of days. Save them if you want while you still can before its too late.

Some fans didn’t expect the streamer’s ban to be permanent, with other fellow Twitch streamers only receiving temporary bans relating to the DMCA issues. However, it shows that m0xyy will have to transfer to another streaming platform in order not to lose his status and source of income. However, there is still a chance that he could plead to get back his channel just like League of Legends streamer Voyboy, who retrieved his Twitch channel after a supposed permanent ban.
Both viewers and streamers seem to be saddened with the recent wave of Twitch bans regarding the DMCA strike happening this year, to the magnitude that Twitch has released a press release apologizing about the issue.
A lot of streamers are supposedly getting strikes over very old or deleted content, and considering a lot of popular streamers are getting their income from the streaming site, these bans are also putting their livelihoods in jeopardy.
Since his ban, m0xyy hasn’t posted anything concerning the DMCA strikes or even the ban itself. It is unclear if the streamer has been in contact with Twitch employees in order to work things out and undo the ban, or if he is starting the process of moving to a new streaming platform.
With this stretch of bans, it is very likely that Twitch viewers will witness even more famous streamers losing their accounts because of DMCA strikes before the year ends. Many can only hope that the Twitch moderators can better manage what goes into bans so that people won’t be losing their source of income.
