Disney Plus has gone further steps ahead to offer the best shows and movies to watch at home. The platform has also widened its reach with more content. Meaning to say, parents should know how to filter it for their children. Sometimes, parents are not aware of parental controls and all the terminologies. Recently, Disney+ has officially debuted its parental controls.

Family viewing means viewing with the kids. Like we have the R rating in movies, Disney Plus’ TV-MA rating indicates that the show might have adult content or even worse than that, and certainly not suitable for family viewing.

So here is everything you need to know about TV-MA on Disney Plus.

What Does Disney Plus TV-MA Mean?

TV-MA on Disney Plus means that the show you are watching on the platform is for mature audiences. This further indicates that you need to switch on or enable the parental control features. Your television must be safe for kids to watch any sort of mature or violent content with abusive language, mature scenes, or violence. Kids under 17 years old must not watch MA content.

What Disney+ Content Fall Under R And TV-MA?

Let’s paint a picture. Disney does not want younger eyes to see Vincent D’Onofrio take a guy’s head off with a car door in “Daredevil.” However, they can see him wearing Hawaiian attire in “Hawkeye.”

At launch, there is only one major difference between Disney Plus’ previous standard setting, and the R and TV-MA setting. And, of course, it is Marvel’s TV fare. “Daredevil,” “Jessica Jones,” “The Punisher,” “Luke Cage,” “Iron Fist,” and “The Defenders” are only the shows to land above the TV-14 rating.

“Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” which just recently joined the platform, rests comfortably in TV-14 land. And for the other recent shows, it looks like “Obi-Wa Kenobi” falls under TV-14 as well. “Deadpool,” “Deadpool 2,” and “Logan” are rated R.

What Parental Control On Disney Plus Includes

Disney+ has upgraded to show MA content. It clearly indicates that viewers need to follow the changed guidelines for enhanced streaming on this platform. The parent control includes Separate Kid’s Profile, Content Restrictions, Profile PINs, and Number of Profiles that can be created.

A. Make A Separate Kid’s Profile On Disney Plus

Since the moment it has been on rounds that Disney has got the permission to show Mature Content, people have become busy searching what it means by TV-MA. So, here we tell you that you need parental control now, and here are the steps for Kid’s Profile creation. You can Add New Profile or change the existing profile to a kid’s profile. Then, you ask your kids to choose the profile with their icon to watch on the platform.

  2. Click on the Profile icon in the top right corner of your web browser.
  3. Then, click Edit Profiles from the drop-down menu.
  4. After doing so, select the profile you wish to Edit.

B. Set Content Restrictions On Disney+

Another option for you is to set content restrictions for a child or children at home. Parents can impose restrictions on the content so that Mature Content will not be shown to the kids in their absence. Follow these steps.

  1. Log in to your Disney Plus account.
  2. Click on Edit Profiles from the drop-down menu.

  1. Now, choose the profile for Content Restriction.
  2. Then, select Content-Rating under Parental Control.
  3. Confirmation will require re-entering your password.
  4. Lastly, select the rating preference, and click Save.

C. Set Profile Creation Restrictions For Your Kids

It is straightforward to create multiple profiles on Disney+. Even kids can do it. So, you need to set profile creation restrictions for your kids. This will not permit them to create a new profile.

  1. Log in to your Disney+ profile.
  2. Click on Account from the drop-down menu.
  3. Navigate and proceed to Restrict Profile Creation.
  4. Toggle it to On.

This will restrict your kids from creating more profiles from your account and password.

D. Create Profile PINs On Disney Plus

Most importantly, besides the above steps, is setting or creating a PIN to restrict kids from gaining access to your account to watch mature content. Here are the steps.

  1. Log in to your Disney+ account.
  2. Click on your profile icon and tap on Edit Profiles.
  3. Then, select the profile to set the pin.
  4. Click on profile pin under the parental control selection.
  5. Then, enter your passwords and click continue.
  6. A box will appear that says Limit Access to this profile with a four-digit PIN.
  7. Toggle on this box.
  8. Enter the desired PIN code and click Save.
