Street Fighter Akuma Arrives In Monster Hunter In New Crossover Event

Capcom is no stranger to crazy collaborations between its own franchises, and Monster Hunter will be the subject of one such event in a few days. In Monster Hunter Rise on the Nintendo Switch, a well-known Street Fighter character will join the hunt.

Monster Hunter Rise was hailed for its exhilarating and exciting hunting experience, as well as several quality-of-life changes that made it the most accessible game in the series to date when it was released earlier this year. Monster Hunter Rise went on to sell over 4 million copies in its first weekend, falling just short of Monster Hunter World’s blockbuster success. That astounding figure is only for one platform, and it will undoubtedly rise when it debuts on PC in early 2022.

On August 27, Akuma will appear in Monster Hunter Rise as a set of Layered Armor, which acts as a hunter’s outfit. Players just need to finish a new Event Quest to play as him. This Layered Armor turns kunai assaults into classic techniques like the Gohadoken and the Zanku Hadoken, as well as changing the sound and look. According to the official Monster Hunter website, Akuma will have his own distinctive animation on the mission completion screen.

Players’ assaults will change into punches and kicks if they wear a sword and shield, as demonstrated in the clip. A Perfect Rush is a lethal combination, and different Silkband assaults in the game may be used to unleash Akuma’s special abilities.

The message also promises a unique surprise, which the player must view by posing with their weapon drawn. Akuma has already appeared in other Capcom games, such as Tekken 7, so it’s no surprise that he’ll be the focus of the newest Monster Hunter Rise cooperation event.

In Monster Hunter Rise, there have already been two such events dubbed “Capcom Collab.” The first featured Okami from the famous PS2 game of the same name, while the second featured Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. Given Akuma’s popularity, it may turn out to be the most thrilling and well-executed cooperation event in the game’s history.

Monster Hunter World included a lot of unusual events as well, including a surprising crossover with Final Fantasy 14 Online. Monster Hunter Rise is sure to see many more partnerships like this in the future, given its strong sales and impending PC port.
