Raw materials in “Subnautica: Below Zero” are a crucial resource for progression and crafting in the game, among other uses.

You are going to need to farm those materials for new blueprints you come across, so it is a good idea to stock up as you go.

These types of games thrive when you figure out a routine and where to find specific materials or items.

In “Subnautica: Below Zero,” there are two types of raw materials:

  • Minerals or Ores
  • Biological

They have a variety of uses, so it is a great idea to keep an eye on where materials are found and regularly top up to make sure you always have a stack of materials to use.

The first resources we will highlight are locations of essential Minerals and Ores on the “Subnautica” map.

Note: Pay attention to two things on the map. That being the markers and the white highlighted portion of the map. These indicate the stuff you are looking for is found in those Biomes but not exactly where to find them. Sounds like “Fantastic Beasts” from the “Harry Potter” series? Wait until you read this.

These raw materials and more you ought to know about the Subnautica: Below Zero map in this piece.

Where To Find Nickel

Nickel is one of the most important materials throughout the game for crafting and upgrading suits, jump jets and vehicles, plus more.

You will also need Nickel to craft your Seatruck Depth Upgrade, which allows an impressive 1,000-meter depth range. That is just one of the essential upgrades to progress through the game so keep a lookout on this.

So yes, Nickel is going to be a valuable resource and should be picked up when found since you will never know where you are going to need an extra ore or two.

By the way, you can also get Nickel from a Sea Monkey. This is not a super reliable way to get them, but you could do it if you wanted.

You will find Nickel in a few places, including these Biomes:

  • Lilypad Islands
  • Deep Lilypads Cave
  • Crystal Caves
  • Fabricator Caverns

Where To Find Lithium

Lithium is another precious resource, especially so for better, late-game blueprints and crafting. It would be best if you farmed this when found.

They are not rare particularly, but it might take a while to find them and will require some work.

On the land areas of the “Subnautica” map, in this case, the Arctic Spire, you will find a few places where Lithium is from Ore Veins and the tunnels.

The three tunnels where you can find Lithium, Copper, and Silver are the Spires Ore Tunnel, Northwest Ore Tunnel, and Spires Ore Tunnel.

Otherwise, we recommend you comb through the Purple Vents “Subnautica: Below Zero” Biomes as they are abundant in this area. But be warned, you will find enemies in the area, such as the Cryptosuchus, which can attack you and your vehicle.

Once there, go down the Seabed to find purple vents bubbling. Sack them for a variety of resources, including Lithium. Lithium is also found in these Biomes:

  • Arctic Spires
  • Crystal Caves
  • Main Crystal Caves
  • Purple Vents
  • Deep Purple Vents
  • East Arctic
  • Deep Twisty Bridges
  • Thermal Spires
  • Tree Spires
  • Tree Spires Fissure

Where To Find Lead

If you are a big believer in Nuclear energy, then Lead is going to be an important material for you.

By crafting Enameled Glass, Lead is pretty valuable and necessary for important upgrades for the Prawn Suit and Seatruck.

Lead is also among the main components in creating the Reactor Rod and Nuclear Reactor, both essential in the end-game for massive energy output to your headquarters.

You may also find Lead and Titanium in Galena Outcrops and from Sea Monkeys.

There are also many upgrades or blueprints requiring Lead, and they are integral to progress through the game. So, it is always a good idea to figure out where to obtain the raw material easily.

Lead can be found in these Biomes:

  • Twisty Bridge
  • Thermal Spires
  • Lilypad Islands
  • East Arctic
  • Glacial Connection
  • Crystal Caves

Where To Find Magnetite

Magnetite is among the resources you will want to keep, and there are many places you can find them.

Most notably, on the Glacial Basin, multiple Ore Veins contain Magnetite and can also be found in the Spy Pengling Access Points, a Hidden Stash, and the Alterra Cache Cave in the Biome.

It would help if you had Magnetite to craft things using the Habitat Builder and Fabricator, or as an energy source, upgrading and more.

Safe to say that you will need quite a few Magnetite ores as you progress through the “Subnautica: Below Zero” map.

You can also find Magnetite on the Seabed in these Biomes:

  • Crystal Caves
  • Main Crystal Caves
  • Crystal Caves Fissure
  • East Arctic
  • Deep Lilypads Cave
  • Glacial Basin
  • West Arctic
  • Glacial Connection

‘Subnautica: Below Zero’ Biomes Highlights

With so much to do, find, and explore in the “Subnautica: Below Zero” map, it is normal to miss out on a few things, so we created this guide for you.

If you can access these Biomes on this list, you should go ahead and find these things to make life on Planet 4546B much more manageable.

The collectibles and locations we will mention below are not that hard to access. They have pretty great rewards and will, most of the time, get you something useful or unique. It might even reward you with valuable tools and Fragments to craft necessary gear.

Wrecks Map

Wrecks in “Subnautica” are few and far between. In fact, there is technically only one Wreck on the entire map.

These remnants are those of Mercury II, a Sol Trans-Gov spaceship that broke off into three various pieces across the Lilypad Islands and Purple Vents.

On the map, though, there are four distinctly marked Wreck sites, with one of them being just the Debris of the crash found in the center of Purple Vents.

The other three Wrecks are as follows:

  • Mercury II Stem (Depth ~150)
  • Mercury II Thruster (Depth ~145)
  • Mercury II Bow (Depth ~250)

There is a bunch of great stuff to find, including Fragments, materials, and decorative pieces for your headquarters.

But, keep in mind: To access most of the good stuff is locked and needs a Laser Cutter to access rooms or supply containers.

Otherwise, the rewards are so worth your trip, so once you are able to reach at least about 250 meters depth, we recommend you take a mission to attain all these free loots.

Alterra Containers Map

Otherwise known as Supply Crates, these Alterra Containers are also abundant around the Above Land Biomes across the “Subnautica” map.

They have a select pool of loot that can be found. Plus, some crates feature twice the items, and some have five times the items.

Among the stuff you can find in these crates include Batteries, Power Cells, Fiber Mesh, Wiring Kits, Reactor Rods, and so much more.

If you are sneaking around the area, we recommend you look for these chests for some quick and easy loot.

Jukebox Disks Map

We are going to tell you right now Jukebox Disks are not integral to the gameplay. But, if you like to design your base, pimping it out with the best stuff, you might enjoy finding them. You can also use these to bring out some tunes.

There are just eight Jukebox Disks around the map, so they are not too cumbersome to find.

You will also find some of these Disks within the Wrecks, as mentioned above, so keep a lookout for them if you are keen on new tracks.

Leviathan Map

The final ones we will touch on in this piece are Leviathans. These creatures are enormous, well-designed creatures and a pain.

Well, some of them, such as the Ice Worm, are best avoided since they are fatal and can ambush you without warning.

You can use the Orange Skull Icons markers below to avoid these areas, or if you are feeling a bit adventurous, to discover these megalithic creatures.

Another thing to keep in mind is that Leviathan creatures will not respawn if killed. It is your choice. Either way, take a look at the image below to see where to find them.

Hope you learned from this piece. Feel free to share this around.
