As the release date of the game “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League” fast approaches, the plot thickens, including a leaked image that is seemingly telling a lot about what the game content will be.
A leaked image of the game is appearing to confirm plans for service game elements such as a battle pass.
The image, which originated on the forum and imageboard website 4chan, is understood to originate from a recent test build. It apparently shows various menus planned for the co-op game by Rocksteady.
The battle pass, as well as the multiple currencies seemingly revealed in the leaked image, have brought forth debates on social media about how extensive the live service elements will be for “Suicide Squad.” Or maybe fans are just excited?
The elements that the leaked image seems to show are having gamers worry, particularly about the Battle Pass and Store tabs. Both these elements are usually found in live services, or games as a service, or GaaS games, and they typically come hand-in-hand with microtransactions and additional purchases. As video gamers have veered away from loot box mechanics, the battle pass, as made famous by games such as “Fortnite,” has increasingly become more common.
But there is really nothing to worry about. A development source said in a tweet that while a battle is planned for the game, it will be centered on cosmetic items such as skins.
The development source, Andrew Marmo, who goes by the Twitter handle @the_marmolade, tweeted, “First look at the Suicide Squad game menu. Mentions Battle Pass, Loadout, Missions based structure. #Batman #SuicideSquad”
Additionally, the different currencies revealed at the top portion of the leaked image are understood to be XP used to power up and customize the skill trees of the antiheroes, effectively making them distinct to the player.
“You don’t start off debuffed and weak,” sources pointed out. “You just start off great and can get ridiculous, like Arkham Knight’s Batman.”
“Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League,” the next game from the creator of the “Batman: Arkham” series, is categorized as a “genre-bending action-adventure shooter” with Metropolis as its open-world setting.
Taking place after the events of “Batman: Arkham Knight,” the game is developed by Rocksteady Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.
It features the voices of Debra Wilson, Tara Strong, Kevin Conroy, Joe Seanoa, and so much more.
Playable solo or with up to four players in online co-op, the game’s original story follows Suicide Squad members Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, and King Shark. They are on a mission to save planet Earth and, of course, kill the world’s greatest DC superheroes, the Justice League.
After a series of delays, “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League” will be released this May 26th. It will be available for PlayStation 5s, Xbox Series X/Ss, and PCs.
