Tesla electric vehicles have become very expensive gaming console ever since June 2019. Elon Musk’s auto company is expanding its gaming prowess with some new game-focused job listings centered in Austin, Texas.
Electrek reported that hidden among the massive amount of job listings for Gigafactory Texas are some software-focused jobs including a video game engineer, software engineer, and rendering engineer. The company already had a gaming team based in Bellevue, Washington back in 2018, Musk tweeted about hiring gaming talent for a project that undoubtedly culminated in the launch of Tesla Arcade in June 2019.
The job listings are more focused on building a gaming platform and not on developing singular games. The video games engineer listing reads as follows:
Tesla Arcade games are all currently licensed, the available games include Fallout Shelter and Cuphead, so it does not seem that the company is planning to develop any first-party games just yet. The company once approached Nintendo about Mario Kart, the company wanted to license an in-car version, but the gaming giant refused and they went for a lesser-known racing title called Beach Buggy Racing 2 instead.
