The Order Season 3: Canceled?

Before anything else, we’d like to warn the readers right away that this article will contain spoilers for the Netflix show The Order. If you haven’t seen it yet, then tread carefully if you don’t want to be spoiled by what happens in the show. If you’ve seen it already or if you don’t mind getting spoiled, then full steam ahead!

The second season of The Order continued where Season 1 ended, with the Knights stopping at nothing to try and take back their memories that the Order stole. Of course, who said it was going to be easy, what with the demons, ruthless magicians, and cults hellbent on stopping them.

Is Season 2 the end for The Order, or can we expect more adventures to come for Alyssa, Jack, and company? In this article, we’ve researched and compiled everything we know about The Order Season 3 so you don’t have to!

When Are We Getting The Order Season 3?

After the release of The Order’s second season, the possibility of a Season 3 was left hanging. However, exec producer Chad Oakes said during a virtual Comic-Con@Home panel that they were still waiting (and hoping) to find out about what the future holds for the TV show “in the next few weeks.”

He said during that panel that the fan and audience responses for The Order were “incredible” and that they were super thankful to those who watched the show. As such, they were hopeful at that time that Netflix would pick up the show for a third installment.

Unfortunately, the good news that Oakes was waiting and hoping for didn’t arrive. After a couple of weeks, The Order’s writer, creator, and executive producer Dennis Heaton posted on Twitter that the series would not have a Season 3. Included in his tweet was a tribute to everyone who had helped with the show and contributed to its success. It’s clear that The Order left a mark on the team, with Heaton saying that “It is one of the best experiences of my career.”

That being said, Heaton offered fans some clues as to what they could have expected from Season 3 if the show had been renewed. For one thing, he revealed that Jack had plans to raise Alyssa from the dead, but it wouldn’t go as planned. Specifically, he said that Alyssa “was going to come back wrong.”

And by “wrong,” he means that she would be like the undead from Pet Sematary and she would most likely be possessed by Zecchia. Alyssa wouldn’t be the only one either to come back from the dead, as they planned to let a bunch of other corpses rise, too.

A fan then asked Heaton if Vera would ever get her magical powers back, and he replied saying that she would get it back eventually, although it wouldn’t be until after a while. He also mentions to another fan that he hopes to revisit The Order again in the future, possibly a “ten-year reunion movie” or something to that effect.

Actress Louriza Tronco, who portrayed the character Gabrielle in the show, also tweeted that she “had an absolutely [sic] BLAST playing Gabrielle.” Still, many fans are still hoping for the best, that somewhere down the line, another network will pick up the show and renew it for more seasons to come.

Naturally, we don’t know if that will ever happen, or if fans will be waiting for nothing. Nevertheless, we don’t know what the future brings. Given The Order’s popularity, there’s always a chance that someone else will be interested in bringing it back.

Familiar Faces

One can only dream, but if The Order did get a Season 3, here are some of the cast and characters we can expect to reprise their roles. Alyssa (played by Sarah Grey) didn’t have it easy in Season 2. In fact, she ended up getting devastatingly mauled by Gabrielle, who was in his werewolf form. The last time we saw her, her throat was slashed and Jack carried her off into the forest along with the Vade Maecum, a highly important magical tome.

Under normal circumstances, that would’ve been the end of Alyssa. After all, any regular person who gets their throats slashed by a werewolf would probably die immediately. However, The Order’s universe is anything but normal, and at this point, we know that anything is possible. So, given Jack scurried away with a magical tome, chances are high that Alyssa will come back alive and kicking.

The problem is, will she still be the old Alyssa we knew?

Moving on, we would most likely see the rest of the characters too, including Vera Stone (played by Katharine Isabelle), Randall Carpio (played by Adam DiMarco), Jack Morton (played by Jake Manley), Hamish Duke (played by Thomas Elms), Nicole Birch (played by Anesha Bailey), Gabrielle Dupres (played by Louriza Tronco), Lilith Bathory (played by Devery Jacobs), and more.

Throughout the show, we hear mentions of the sixth werewolf and leader of the Knights of Saint Christopher, otherwise known as Alpha. However, we never really got to meet him in either Season 1 or Season 2. If we were to get a third season, it’s highly likely that we’ll finally be introduced to this intriguing character, along with a bunch of other new faces.

The Order is known for throwing in a couple of guest stars to keep the fans excited, and during the aforementioned virtual Comic-Con@Home panel, Devery Jacobs mentioned that she’d love to have Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) featured in the show. Chad Oakes, on the other hand, was more than happy to have Cher onboard.

Potential Plot if Renewed

Season 2 ended with a plethora of unanswered questions, so Season 3 would have to resolve or piece together a bunch of major threads that were left loose. For one thing, we have to know what really happens to Alyssa. There’s also the question of how Vera is going to fare now that’s she doesn’t have any powers.

We predict that she’d have to rely on other people to survive, or perhaps she’d go on the run. Nevertheless, as confirmed above, we know for sure that she would regain those powers eventually.

Conclusion

It’s truly such a shame that Netflix canceled The Order before it could become something much more than it already was. Given how popular the show is, we can only hope that another streaming platform or TV network will see its potential and renew it.
