Rumors and leaks leading up to the Ubisoft Forward event have been scattered all over the internet, yet Ubisoft still pulled a few surprises up its sleeve. The biggest surprise would probably be the fact that British rapper Stormzy will make an appearance in Watch Dogs Legion.
If you don’t know who he is, Stormzy is a multi-award-winning British artist who has been known to be very outspoken. He has used his music to call out and express his concerns regarding UK politics. For instance, he once called out Theresa May and company during the 2018 Brit awards for their subpar response to the Grenfell Tower fire which resulted in 72 dead.
This is why he was perfect for Watch Dogs Legion, as this is a game that focuses on oppression and resistance.
Watch Dogs 2 was all about a team of hackers who were up against a tech giant in San Francisco whose goal was world domination. It’s pretty much the same with Legion, but this time they’re up against a private military who took over London and made it a surveillance state on the government’s orders.
The released trailer shows that not only will Stormzy be making an appearance, but he’s going to have his own mission called “Fall On My Enemies.” His collaboration with Ubisoft will also serve another purpose, as he will be making a music video for his song “Rainfall” using the game’s engine. The music video will also feature a CG version of Stormzy who’s performing in a stylized version of London.
This isn’t the first time that Ubisoft has announced a collaboration for the upcoming title, though. Earlier this summer, it was revealed that Watch Dogs Legion will feature the descendants of Jacob Frye, Assassin Creed’s protagonist. We’re definitely interested and excited to see the many possibilities that this will open up for the game.
Not only that, but it was also announced that Aiden Pearce, who is Watch Dogs’ original protagonist, will be a playable character in Watch Dogs Legion’s DLC.
We definitely can’t wait for Watch Dogs Legion, which will be released on the PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One this October 29.
