Celebrate Lunar New Year In Style With Watch Dogs: Legion New Limited Time Outfits

The Lunar New Year is perhaps one of the biggest holidays in China (as well as other Asian countries), and it’s not exactly the most common event to be celebrated in the western part of the globe. Although it’s not unheard of for MMORPGs and popular live service games to celebrate the holiday to some capacity, usually through the release of themed skins or outfits, it’s practically unheard of for a single-player game to release Lunar New Year content.

That’s why it was a big surprise when Ubisoft announced that Watch Dogs Legion would be celebrating the event in-game through free rewards and other content. While the celebration won’t have anything major, it’s still something that Watch Dogs Legion players could cappreciate—especially those fans who do celebrate Chinese New Year.

Available for only a limited time from now through February 25, 2021, Watch Dogs Legion players can expect a handful of free Lunar New Year skins added to the game. Going through the options, fans will find a crop-top, t-shirts, jackets, and even a dragon mask available.

In line with the Chinese New Year color scheme, most if not all of the newly added outfits are colored red and gold. One apparel even has a Year of the Ox reference on it, befitting of this year’s occasion in particular. While it may not be additional playable content, but it allows players to celebrate the Lunar New Year in a fashionable way as they cause mischief in the dystopian streets of Watch Dogs Legion’s London.

All the skins are available through Ubisoft Connect, which is the meta shop that’s available in all of the developer’s modern or new games. So, Watch Dogs Legion players should be able to access this shop no matter which platform they’ve chosen to play the game on. What’s even better is that all of these outfits can be obtained for free, and fans won’t need Ubisoft Connect currency if they want to obtain them.

As mentioned, this kind of additional content leaves a lot to be desired, especially when compared to what other developers have prepared for their in-game holiday celebrations. Other popular video games such as League of Legends, Overwatch, and even Pokemon Go have their own respective Lunar New Year celebrations.

That being said, the fact that Ubisoft decided to add bonus content to Watch Dogs Legion, a single-player title for now, for Chinese New Year is a big deal. Not only is it uncommon, but adding anything new to a video game requires a lot of effort. As such, fans can definitely appreciate Ubisoft for taking the extra bit of time its developer may have to create and release something special for the fans who celebrate this yearly event.
