Watch Dogs: Legion Multiplayer Mode Now Available for Console Users

Watch Dogs Legion was first launched in October of last year, transporting players to a dystopian and authoritative version of London under the control of a private military company known as Albion. In an effort to cause trouble for Albion and possibly break free from its regime, the hacker group DedSec is on a mission to recruit a variety of characters—NPCs, to be exact—so that they can create a multi-specialized team.

Watch Dogs Legion is the third game in the Watch Dogs franchise, the first game of which was first launched back in 2014. Up until now, Ubisoft developed a varied single-player adventure for the previous Watch Dogs games, complete with hacking, stealth sequences, and a lot of driving around as well. Not only that, the developer even introduced the option for permadeath in a bid to amp up the gameplay’s intensity.

However, seeing as the version of London in Watch Dogs Legion is expansive, Ubisoft opted to turn it into a game akin to GTA Online—the difference being the fact that Legion is sci-fi. Today marks the day when Ubisoft will finally be releasing Watch Dogs Legion’s online multiplayer mode for free. However, only the console users will be able to enjoy this feature for now. The PC version for this mode doesn’t have a specific release date just yet, so we’ll just have to wait for an official announcement from Ubisoft.

With this new mode, Watch Dogs Legion will have 4-player cooperative missions. This will give players the chance to team up with three other players as they explore the open-world London and take part in different missions. Since there will be a team of 4, each player will offer something different to the table by taking control of different operatives.

Watch Dogs Legion offers a plethora of operatives to recruit to DeadSec, so team combinations are only limited by the players’ imagination. Among other things, this highly awaited multiplayer online mode also brings Tactical Ops to the table. These are longer and more challenging missions for a 4-player team to take part in, and communication and cooperation are key in order to succeed.

There are other cool features asides from the new multiplayer missions, though. Watch Dogs Legion also offers the player-vs-player Spiderbot Arena, where a maximum of 8 players or opponents have to fight an armed spiderbot. At the same time, players also have to keep an eye out for useful weapons, hack other players, collect powerups, and remain hidden as much as possible to try and be the victor.

Ubisoft also has a couple of other post-launch content planned for the action-adventure game, such as extra game modes, random world events, and even in-game rewards to look out for. Of course, all these exciting features that will come with the new online mode won’t be available right away, even though the mode has been launched.

There are bugs and glitches that Ubisoft has to deal with first as well, but all the confirmed features and content will surely be implemented to the game at some point once they’re fully ready.
