Gamers still using Microsoft’s Xbox 360 are bound to lose access to purchase 46 games in total from the platform’s digital storefront starting tomorrow, February 7th.
Read on to find out what some of these games are.
46 games are to be delisted in total
“A number of game titles and associated add-ons will be removed from the Xbox 360 Marketplace in a select set of regions per title. These removals will start on February 7, 2023,” Xbox said in its official marketplace update.
The 46 games being delisted from the marketplace of Xbox 360 include several “Assassin’s Creed” games, two “Call of Duty” titles, the original “Dark Souls,” both “Left 4 Dead” games, “Splinter Cell Conviction,” the original Xbox game “Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords,” and “Mass Effect 2,” among many others.
Though it might not seem very old, the Xbox 360 was launched initially all the way in 2005. Since then, you know Microsoft has released several new Xbox consoles, including the Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
While some gamers might still be using their Xbox 360 from time to time, the company behind it, Microsoft, is now starting to delist some notable game titles from the legacy hardware.
Taking place tomorrow, these removals were officially announced by Microsoft, but Microsoft did not drop the reason for them. Some of the most notable franchises will be affected.
You can still redownload these games
However, if you already own these game titles digitally on your Xbox 360, they will still be downloaded in perpetuity. But now, purchases of these games will no longer be permitted.
Fortunately, it is worth noting that if you own an Xbox One, Xbox Series X, or Xbox Series S console, these games on the list of removals on Xbox 360 will still be purchasable on all those platforms.
So, as long as you own an Xbox console released in the past decade, this delisting will not be a big deal to you.
“Once purchased, you can always redownload these games or any other previously purchased games from your Xbox 360 Download History,” the official marketplace update said.
For many gaming experts, this delisting from Microsoft on the Xbox 360 is interesting to see, and they expect it to witness it become more apparent over time.
The Xbox 360 is a home video game console from the development of Microsoft. It is the successor to the original Xbox and the second console in the Xbox series. It has been said that it completed with Sony’s PlayStation 3 and Nintendo’s Wii as part of the seventh-generation video gaming consoles.
