Microsoft is partnering with Disney+ to create a new Xbox Series X controller themed with the popular Star Wars TV series, The Mandalorian. This is not the first collaboration Xbox has participated in to advertise its new console.
Last month, fast-food chain Bojangles revealed an exclusive console cover for the Xbox Series X, designing the next-gen console as a box of Bojangles fried chicken. The crazy crossover was won by a lucky follower on Twitter.
If nothing else can be said for the kick-off of the new generation of consoles, at least it has been memorable. Both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S released last month to widespread, and both sold out instantly.
This is the way.

The global pandemic has taken a heavy toll on the production of consoles which is why demand has been insatiable. Scalpers have been utilizing bots to secure and pick thousands of next-gen consoles before law-abiding fans have an opportunity to secure the hardware for themselves, and sellers simply just can’t keep up. Sadly, these selfish scalpers have been rewarded for their immoral behaviors as they have made at least $60 million since the new systems were released.
However, these supply issues haven’t prevented Xbox from rewarding those lucky few who actually managed to secure a copy of their new console. A few hours ago, Xbox Wire revealed a new special edition Xbox Series X controller with a design inspired by The Mandalorian.
Since the TV series sadly doesn’t have a video game, the controllers are rather being launched to commemorate the airing of the show’s season 2 finale on December 18. One controller sports the Child wielding the force while the other portrays the titular Mandalorian, equipped with his iconic Beskar armor.
The controllers are not available for purchase and will only be available to fans that will retweet the Xbox sweepstakes post on Twitter. The lucky winners will be rewarded with the exclusive controllers which will be delivered in a special Star Wars-inspired mail.
It might look bizarre for Xbox to provide fans accessories inspired by a TV series rather than a video game but does make sense in context. Last November, Xbox made another collaboration with Disney and is now giving a 30-day Disney+ free trial to people who subscribe to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
This is a great way for loyal Xbox fans to catch up on the famous Star Wars TV show in time for the season finale, and, if they are lucky, in time for their new exclusive The Mandalorian controller to arrive.
