Players who want to put the Xbox Series X on its side might have one little problem – they won’t be able to remove the console’s stand.
Yesterday, Microsoft sent a few members of the gaming media a few dummy Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X consoles. Having a replica of the real thing will be really helpful in analyzing sizes but also in studying ways Microsoft wouldn’t do.
One question that’s been boggling fans ever since the Xbox Series X was introduced were concerns about its bottom, built-in stand. The console was constructed as a standing console but Microsoft recently confirmed that users can also place it horizontally, similar to all other consoles.
One of the most common questions I've gotten is if the round stand on the bottom of the Series X is removable, in the event you choose to lay it on its side.
I couldn't find a way to take it off, and I just confirmed with Microsoft that it is indeed not removable. So just FYI!

This may look a little strange since the console’s power button doesn’t rotate. And now, fans might just have another good reason to just keep the Xbox Series X in a vertical position.
Ryan McCaffrey of IGN received his own dummy console yesterday and spent the rest of the day answering fan inquiries. He confirmed that the Xbox Series X’s stand couldn’t be removed in any way.
He also revealed that the stand looks like it’s helping with the console’s airflow. Allowing users to remove the stand could lead to cooling issues thus, it makes sense that it shouldn’t be removed. However, it does make it a little uglier.
