365 Days” is a trending Polish erotic thriller that premiered during the COVID-19 pandemic. Directed by Tomasz Mandes and Barbara Białowąs, this film, like the “Fifty Shades” trilogy, was based on a trilogy by Blanka Lipińska, though it only covered the first novel. 

It tells the story of a young woman from Warsaw who is in a relationship with a man from Sicilia. However, the man imprisons her and imposes a year-long restriction on her ability to fall in love with him. 

“365 Days” starred Anna-Maria Sieklucka, Michele Morrone, Bronisław Wrocławski, Otar Saralidze, Magdalena Lamparska, and Natasza Urbańska. It reached the top three most viewed content on Netflix in several countries.

The plot begins with Carlos and Laura expressing their love for each other as if every day is their last. The couple searches for their place in this world, but a year later, their deep passion turns to just become a memory.

Another erotic film that you might want to check out after watching “365 Days” is “Elles.” Małgośka Szumowska, a Polish director, directed and co-wrote this 2011 erotic drama flick.

It tells the life story of a journalist who tries to balance her duties concerning marriage and motherhood with working on a research piece on college women who work as prostitutes to cover their school tuition. 

The movie stars Juliette Binoche, Anaïs Demoustier, Joanna Kulig, Louis-Do de Lencquesaing, Krystyna Janda, and Andrzej Chyra.

4. ‘Newness’

Newness” is a breath of fresh air as it is an American romantic drama movie that premiered in 2017. This movie, directed by Drake Doremus, stars “X-Men: First Class” actor Nicholas Hoult and Spanish actress Laia Costa. It also includes Danny Huston, Courtney Eaton, and Esther Perel, among others. 

Set in contemporary Los Angeles, two millennials navigating a social media-driven hookup culture ignite a relationship that challenges their physical and emotional boundaries.

If you like the movie Black Swan, you will like this, too. “Below Her Mouth” is a 2016 Canadian erotic romantic drama film about two women rather than opposite genders. But you’ll understand why it resembles “365 Days” if you watch this movie. 

Directed by April Millen, the film stars Natalie Krill and Erika Linder. They portray two women in Toronto, Canada, who meet and begin a passionate love affair. Their relationship changes their lives forever.

Though a Hollywood flick, it was filmed and set in Montreal, Quebec in Canada. “The Voyeurs” was released on the Amazon Prime Video streaming platform. 

It stars Justice Smith and Sydney Sweeney as a young couple who obsess themselves about becoming spies for the lives of their neighbors just across the avenue. They later realize how their habit has shaped their own lives, too. 

7. ‘After’

After” is an American romantic drama film that premiered in 2019. Jenny Gage directed this movie and also co-wrote its screenplay. It was based on a novel by Anna Todd. 

Starring Josephine Langford and Hero Fiennes Tiffin, it follows a young woman who begins a romantic relationship with a mysterious pupil in her first months of college. What happens after is yours to find out. 

Also part of the cast are Inanna Sarkis, Selma Blair, Pia Mia, Shane Paul McGhie, Dylan Arnold, Khadijha Red Thunder, Jennifer Beals, Samuel Larsen, and Peter Gallagher.

8. ‘Friends With Benefits’

This might be the most popular film on this list as it stars singer Justin Timberlake and Black Swan herself, Mila Kunis. “Friends with Benefits” is a Hollywood rom-com that premiered in 2011. 

Will Gluck directed the film, which also stars Jenna Elfman, Patricia Clarkson, Nolan Gould, Bryan Greenberg, Richard Jenkins, and Woody Harrelson. 

The story is about Dylan Harper and Jamie Rellis, who cross paths in New York but as friends. However, they are having intercourse as they believe doing so won’t complicate their friendship. Over time, they start developing profound feelings for each other but deny it each time they’re together.
